Don - I've not seen the U of M study. Do they use the pulmonary vein isolation technique? I also seem to remember someone said the energy source was different at the UofM. Without reading the study, I would want to know if it is the PVI and secondly, if the energy is different, and third, how many have been performed, and what is the success rate...and the period of time these resultby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Jim - I'm interested in your history of finding a cure. I had wanted to do some of the things you've tried - chelation, the Heart Math, and indepth medictation. Somehow, these never materialized for me...and now that I learn that it didn't "cure" your afib, I guess I can put that to rest...even though we are all different (for sure.) Marilyn - I've been on Flec for almost 3 years and at first the dreams were especially disturbing - but I must admit, not to the extent you are experiencing. At times, I would have to force myself to wake up from an especially disturbing dream. Lately though - 3 - 4 months, this has subsided. Discuss it again with your physician - there must be some chemistry there that is causing it.by Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carol - The decision to have an ablation - for me - was a difficult and most painful one because I always felt I could fix myself, naturally, so in a way, I felt I failed myself. But considering everything, and threatened with frequent ER visits, Coumadin and the antiarrhythmic drug failing to work, I decided to give in to that which I had resisted ever since I heard the word, ablation. Ralph - I've discussed Vitamin E with several doctors (holistic) and they all concur Vitamin E can be helpful and doses up to 1200 mg. daily do not typically invoke hemorrhagic bleeds..... I totally approve of Vitamin E, Omega 3 oils and lots of it and other naturally anti-clotting supplements including ginkgo biloba for circulation. Magnesium also helps prevent clotting. Gerry - I share your concern about excessive bleeding. I don't get along with Coumadin at all because my natural blood is thin - and I use natural blood thinners.... This still doesn't get my numbers for the INR measurement up to the standard of 2.0 to 3.0...so I'm stuck for a while taking the rat poison. Ralph - when I was first diagnosed with afib, my holistic MD at the time was doing chelation. He was sure that once I was rid of the heavy metals and other toxic substances, the afib would go away. Unfortunately, I was not able to tolerate the EDTA solution used in the chelation solution, so I'll never know, but my gut feeling is that chelation is good for "everything"....it clby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
LWD - A successful ablation as defined by Dr. Natale of the CCF here in Cleveland is: No drugs; no afib. Post ablation, I am back on Flecanide for two months with the directions to stop then to see what happens. I presume that if I can't be off the flecanice without fibrillation, then I will go in for a "touch up" procedure which should just about guarantee it...they say upwby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Liz - sorry not to respond. There is so much activity on the BB that unless one makes an effort to go way back, things can be missed. I guess I'm guilty. Thanks for your kind comments. Better to consume the whole fruit and benefit from the fiber and in the case of oranges or other citrus, the bioflavonoids contained in the fragments of white fiber....and the guarantee that the package delivers fresh vitamins. Robert A - I totally agree with all your questions. The unknown is down the road. Ablations have been done probably between 15 and 20 years and the early ones were undoubtedly quite primitive compared to the current procedure. Bob - You will, you will. Just be prepared that you may not be totally free of afib during the 3 month adjustment period and don't be discouraged if or when it happens. The big hurdle will be out of the way..the rest is patience. After all your trials all these years, you are now on the home stretch and in a few months, it will all be history. John - it's a very good idea to keep the log. I used to keep a very detailed log and did so for many years. People with afib tend to have higher CRP levels and studies seem to indicate a relationship yet to be clarified. Sometimes the insulin overshoots and then the adrenaline kicks in to get you to replace the sugar deficit.
