Newman - etal The basic issue is .... why should everyone pay for people who neglect and abuse their health all their lives and then need heroics with expensive medicine. Before there were medical benefits and insurance to cover drugs, people paid out of their pocket and thought nothing of it .... and they tried to stay healthy. Now people seem to think disease can be fixed with a drug and iby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Newman - I don't know about the 32 hour clock either, but on one of my ER visits last spring - I had gone 48 hours and they would not convert me until I reached the appropriate INR level which took about 3 days while in the hospital and I also was required to have the TEE before conversion. It seems at least with the CCF, if you are on Coumadin and reach the numbers between 2.0 and 3.0, thby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Dr. Pirelli - How very nice of you to join us - and sorry it has to be under the circumstances of afib, but who better a person than a physician with the condition. It's delightful that you subscribe to alternative methods and I am sure everyone will keep you very busy. Thanks Chris - the health columns in the papers here are already alerting those on Coumadin to avoid cranberry. Bummer! Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Liz - I know you are speaking of indoor heat, but I always had to watch it if I became overheated outdoors - especially if I were directly in the sun for an extended period of time - gardening or golfing. It was almost a given that I would have afib once I settled down indoors after several hours...it was like the heat was the stressor and it triggered a delayed response because the afib didnby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
My instruction for Coumadin after ablation is to take it for 3 months. The most critical time is one week post ablation. You are at high risk of dislodging clots from the burn or ablated area. Also, the immediate risk is from the perforation site at the intraatrial septum. After that, ideally, one will remain at least for 6 weeks if they have no afib. The docs won't give you permissioby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Babs - I've not read that Warfarin contributes to weight gain... but I haven't specifically looked for that, either. Obviously, weight gain is going to influence structural function which would include back and leg pain. It's important to discuss with your doctor bone pain. good luck. Candida albicans (yeast) is found in every person's body. It will always be there in small quantities.... Problems arise when it becomes an overgrowth or a pathogen to the body. Big problems. It is impossible to totally destroy Candida permanently but by strengthening the immune system and providing the intestinal tract with an over abundance of the good bacteria, or flora, Candida colonby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Liz - This is, of course, tragic. I have not read the details of these deaths, but most likely if they were known, the people had some type of unknown or undiagnosed kidney dysfunction. Jack - I was told to do as you are doing - wean down in dosage every couple of weeks, but my notches down were by 25 mg. rather than your 50. Folow your doctor's orders. Just don't do it in a hurry...if you can live with 50 well, then do that for a bit and then go down more. Be sure to ask him what to do should afib flare up again, though, so you are prepared. Terry - My first comment is most likely one you don't want to hear.... why are you tempting afib by consuming the known triggers such as wine and pizza... alcohol, starch and high salt? I can understand your symptoms with the beta blockers. Many of us don't get along with high doses of BB for just the reason you mention fatigue. Is there a reason you are reluctant to try the ca chanby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Howie - this possibility is recognized by holistic dentists and almost a certainty. However, it is directly opposite traditional dentistry and considered quackery by most. However, the holistic dentists feel that infection left at the tip of a root as in root canal treatment creates a situation called cavitation where the bacteria (anerobic) meaning they can live without oxygen - reside there aby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Richard - the lessening of GERD with the elimination of starchy type food carbs can be related to Candida - when Candida (yeast) is fed the foods on which they thrive, they produce gas in their normal fashion of growing and dividing. When I had Candida, I also had GERD which in turn usually stimulated an afib event after meals - especially ones containg the fuel for Candida. While I am alsoby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Billo - welcome to the CCF ablation connection! You were 5 days after mine. I'm terribly sorry to learn of the stroke, of course, but as I understand it, when caught as yours was and with the ability to dissolve the clot immediately, you should soon be good as new. Of course; that's the downside of coumadin.... if you can see the visual effects....what about those you can't see....and the risk of hemorrhagic stroke. Long term use of Coumadin should always be a concern. I had a patient who told me he had bleeding like "rusting" that blackened his entire leg from the top down. Elderly and long-term coumadin use. Judy - As you know by reading, I go to the CCF and was recently ablated there by Dr. Natale. When I was placed on Flecanide, I was indeed, hospitalized for three days and I even had to learn how to give myself injections in the stomach with heparin until coumadin levels could be reached. Peggy - I definitely think with time, this type diet will work to cure afib. Fran can't take supplements and has done it with whole foods. Erling has done it with diet and supplements. Liz - in spite of all the reasons why BB are used, I never got along with them and I was on them for about 5 years. Lisa - let me share with you my recent experience with going off Coumadin prior to the ablation I just had. I was placed on a two week trial before ablation to determine what my therapeutic dose should be after the ablation. The last INR was 2.85 - within the range, but too high for my chemistry so instead of going off it for 3 days before the ablation, I stopped it 5 days before ablation. Tby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
JR - I don't want to rock your boat here, but I am concerned for you being on what appears to be a lifetime sentence to taking Coumadin. Hi Dean - I'm sorry to learn the magnesium doesn't seem to be compatible with your system... Is there any other ingredient in the compound?
