Fair enough Chris. Hope your ablation works 100%! I'm most likely in the same position when i see the EP on the 17 Dec. He does cryo so i don't want to ask stupid questions.by Joe - AFIBBERS FORUM

Louise, they did not cardiovert me when i went to ER. They kept me in for 5 days and just gave me drugs and monitoring. A few weeks after discharge (still in AF) i saw a cardiologist and asked him for a cardioversion. He reluctantly agreed and said that it probably won't work. It did - for 1 hr. I was in permanent AF for a good 4 months prior to first cardioversion. I asked him for anotherby Joe - AFIBBERS FORUM
Seems to me your atria enlarged a fair bit in a relative short time, Louise. I was led to belief that with a HR you are mentioning that should not be the case? In my case the enlarged left atria came back to almost normal within a year once the AF stopped (cardioverted)by Joe - AFIBBERS FORUM
I could be wrong, Chris. My understanding is that cryo balloon is restricted to the 4 PVIs? If that's the case then a RF catheter would be needed for other areas? Didn't know that the EP can determine where the stray signals in the atria comes from without having a catheter inserted?by Joe - AFIBBERS FORUM
FWIW, i take 5mg of Eliquis 2x/day. Haven't noticed any excessive bleeding when i manage to cut myself - admittedly minor cuts. No other side effects noticed either. I'm booked in for a bi-lateral laparoscopic inguinal hernia operation. Was told to stop Eliquis 3 days prior.by Joe - AFIBBERS FORUM
How are you doing, Chris? Hope all settled down! Assume it was with a cryo balloon? If so, did the EP have an RF catheter in case there were other areas in the atria?by Joe - AFIBBERS FORUM
Interesting indeed! Saw the Cardiologist/EP today and asked him about breathing, how it affects blood pH, if it would/could slow down/alter cell depolarization. He simply doesn't know and was never deeply into cellular level theories. He could put me onto people who are. These people generally become professors and do research on animals etc.!by Joe - AFIBBERS FORUM
Quotewolfpack I’ll throw out a guess and say that those with extensive lesion sets in the left atrium, extending well beyond the normal pulmonary vein isolation to include areas such as the posterior wall and left-atrial appendage, might experience significant conduction abnormalities as charge propagates from the sino-atrial node in the right atrium across the more heavily scarred left atrium, aby Joe - AFIBBERS FORUM
Is the left atria contracting/pumping normal when there is only a diminished P wave?by Joe - AFIBBERS FORUM
York Cardiology - Dr Gupta might know?by Joe - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you Wolfpack, that's what i was afraid of the answer is. It's a bummer the source can't be established prior to inserting a catheter. It is what it is at this stageby Joe - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you, Carey! Gives me a basis to ask a very important question to the EP and i might as well ask it here - How do they establish the source of the stray electrical impulses prior to actually going in with a catheter and therefor be in a position to choose if cryo or RF is the best way to do the job?by Joe - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you! Any particular reason why you don't want CBA? The reason i'm asking is because my EP refered me to his 'boss' who does cryo but i don't know if it is with a balloon until i see him in December. Got a previous impression that it is the operator rather than the method used???by Joe - AFIBBERS FORUM
Excuse my ignorance - what does CBA stand for?by Joe - AFIBBERS FORUM
It's your body and you pick the best you can afford especially at your age. Mentioned to my EP the success rate of Bordeaux ablation experts. He was aware of their work but said that it could not be replicated (their success rate) in other centers. I brought up the idea that it is the operator (and not the method/technique)who makes the biggest difference and he agreed. Best of luck!by Joe - AFIBBERS FORUM

That information would virtually be unobtainable in Melbourne Australia. I know of one allegedly top EP working in a top hospital who did 3 ablations in 18months to get a result - so far so good. This EP doesn't inspire me with a lot of confidence. Last visit to my EP i mentioned that and he told me data on success rate of EPs is not available to his knowledge. However, he knows a number hby Joe - AFIBBERS FORUM

QuoteCarey Preventing some types of dementia with dietary measures taken decades in advance is one thing and might be possible, but has never been demonstrated. Curing it is quite another. I'd like to see a single documented case history of a patient diagnosed with any type of dementia being cured by any type of dietary measure or supplement. Was wondering why seemingly the Flec brought me back into SR. Came across that in Wiki: QuotepH modulation of sodium channel gating As the cardiac sodium channel is the most pH-sensitive sodium channel, most of what is known is based on this channel. Reduction in extracellular pH has been shown to depolarize the voltage-dependence of activation and inactivation to more positive potentials. Thisby Joe - AFIBBERS FORUM

Whatever it is that he and people who follow his regimen achieve is remarkable. He says it's got to do (among other factors) with increasing the alkalinity of the blood?
