Hi Clay, No, I don't take any afib meds or any meds at all for that matter. I was on statins for 7 years and just recently stopped. The afib meds didn't do a lot for me or had bad side effects, I have tried a lot of them. I take supplements however. Magnesium, fish oil, ginger, turmeric, CoQ10, pomegranate and L-theanine. When I have an afib event I take one tablet of Ativan (loby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi All, I thought I would share my surprise discovery of the effect of a low carb diet on my sleep pattern and afib occurrence. I recently purchased a fitbit tracker (Dec.12) and the below graph follows my resting heart rate from Dec.12 to April 1. After my last afib event (Feb 6) I decided to try a low carb diet, it took a couple of weeks to change my diet and on March 1 I saw a markedby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Sorry I didn't realized the jpg was so large, now I know how to attach them, I will in the future reduce the size. Thanks alangford for your help. Colinby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM

Hi, Is there a way to attach a jpeg or pdf to a topic. I thought I saw a photo attached to a topic just recently. Thanks Colinby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Rich. You say you are under stress, then as Jackie recommends take L theanine it is a wonderful supplement. It relaxes you, but keeps you sharp, it lowers your heart rate, it promotes the production of nitric oxide, which dilates and cleans your arteries, in doing so lowers your blood pressure if it's high. I take one 150mg capsule just before bed every night, it helps me go to sleeby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
And then there's this passage. Second, could the real answer to AF treatment be autonomic nervous system modulation rather than antiarrhythmics or pulmonary vein isolation procedures?by colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Lynn, Have you considered the 5-2 diet, that is you eat normally for 5 days and fast for 2, eat just 600 calories. It's best to have the 2 fast days apart. Eg. My fast days are Monday and Thursday. I have been using the diet for about 18 months and have lost 13kg (29lbs), mind you I am not on the diet when I go on holiday, and some of the weight goes back on. I have just recently cutby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi, When is the best time to test my potassium level using horiba. I find I am getting different readings first thing in the morming and mid morning. First thing the results are high 5.1mmol/L and mid morning 4.4mmol/L. Should I brush my teeth before hand? I thought my tester was faulty (C-131) so I purchased the newer tester B-731 and find they're much the same, the B-731 beingby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks everyone who responded to my post. I have learned a lot about blood sugar levels spiking up during an afib event and the likely cause being low potassium, triggered by sugar. I have also learned from PeggieM that taking a heaped teaspoon of potassium in a glass of water may terminate an afib event. As well, from one of Jackie's links the Ativan conversion which is worth a try. (vby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
A 10% AF burden is 73 hours a month? correct? that's a lot of Afib.by colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi All, I have been thinking for some time that sugar levels have something to do with Afib. My triggers are sugary sweets, sweet drinks (like fanta) carbohydrates (bread) and in combination with high carb meal, wine. I haven't got my theory proven yet but recently purchased a blood glucose meter, and have conducted some tests. My fast blood levels are normal ranging from 5 to 6 mmol/by colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Liz, I to have read Dr Colburt's book and for me I need to eat meat to keep my blood sugar level from going low. Is there available an afibbers diet?? What does the modified paleo diet consist of. You may try pomegranate juice (100% pure) to lower BP Colinby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Great news Jackie, I am back using 'MitoQ heart' now I am back taking statins. I stopped statins for about 4 months and my cholesterol went sky high. Anyway I am very happy for you. Colinby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks George, Jackie and Monty for your replies. George I don't think I will be following your lead with the Keto diet but will include a bowl of miso soup on my fast day. I rarely take salt, mostly low salt with 3/4 potassium. My potassium levels are normally good around 4.5ish. I will watch my carbs on the day after my fast day as they seem to be the trigger. Monty thanks for yourby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Afib caught up with me yesterday afternoon, I had been free of afib for 7 weeks. Yesterday was also a day after my fast day. I have been doing the 5:2 diet for most of this year. If you don't know what 5:2 diet is then I will explain. You eat 2000 calories for 5 days and you drop to 600 for two days. We have Monday and Thursday for our fast days. This is good to maintain weight and you feby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Maybe the Melbourne hospitals and their cardiologist are correct to recommend it, but elsewhere there is debate as to the benefits of CoQ10. See this reply from Mayo Clinic. Though CoQ10 has been used with the pretense of treating many ailments, many of these applications remain controversial. Supplements can simply be taken for a CoenzymeQ10 deficiency -- although even that treatment iby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Alex, " Are all other coq 10 users wasting their money ? " I think they maybe. A lot of what I read is some what indefinite, see below link. For example it says "some people find etc" and " Some researchers believe that CoQ10 may help " and " Some studies suggest that coenzyme Q10" It all a bit airy-fairy.by colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Alex, The way I understand it in simple terms is the MitoQ is positively charged and the CoQ10 is not. Therefore making the MitoQ attracted to the negatively charged mitochondria, where it is needed. The CoQ10 has no attracion to the mitochondria or very little, and is almost a wast of time taking it.by colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Below is the reply I received from MitoQ. I also asked if MitoQ actually replace the CoQ10 that statins deplete? --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi Colin, Thank you for contacting MitoQ. The 847 claim is an average. We have a number of papers that capture the number ranging from 800 to 1200 times the effectiveness of CoQ10 in terms of taby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Good question Alex, I have sent them an email asking them how they arrived at their claim, MitoQ being 847 times more effective than CoQ10. I will post their reply.by colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM

This is the only supplier. BTW. I don't have any financial interest or connection with this company other than purchasing their product. I have been taking MitoQ for three months and in that time have had one afib event, (I would normally have 1 a month) of course I can't be sure it's due to MitoQ, but may be more so after six months.by colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM

Has there been a survey when afib occurs? I wouldn't be surprised if most events occur when our circadian rhythm is at it's lowest. 3 to 7 am and 2 to 5 pm. My afib events occur always in the afternoon, I am a morning person, is there some connection?by colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
