Does taking flecinide cause some people to experience gout?by colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteIrishPeteAZ Any input is appreciated on what is acceptable and what is not. "Excessive atrial ectopic activity was defined as ≥30 PAC per hour or a single run of ≥20. Over a median follow-up period of 76 months, it was found that excessive PAC were associated with a >60% increase in the risk of death or stroke, and a 2.7-fold increase in the development of AF."by colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteCarey Omeprazole (Prilosec) has a very short half-life, on the order of less than an hour, so it's completely out of your system within about 8 hours. I don't think connecting Prilosec and the PACs makes sense. My PACs started after I stopped Omeprazole. I had some flecainide and took that and they stopped for a while. I have now been prescribed 200mgs slow release flecainideby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteCarey Not to my knowledge. And according to drugs.com's interaction checker, these have a major interaction, so I wouldn't combine them at all. You can stop the flecainide and take your chances with afib or stop the paxlovid and take your chances with covid. I'd take my chances with afib before covid. Thanks Carey and Daisy, I got the script and there was a warning &qby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have covid 19 and find that Paxlovid shouldn't be taken with flecinide. Is there an alternative?by colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteCarey. The ablations aren't failing; your body is simply forming new fibrotic tissue all on its own. That's why EPs have come to understand afib as an underlying heart disease known as atrial myopathy. It's also why the term "lone afib" is no longer recognized. Having afib is a form of structural heart disease, so the term doesn't make sense and misleads our thby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteCarey If the ablation is a success, that means the scar lines are durable and are blocking ALL abnormal signals, correct? Yes, after the ablation lines have formed scar tissue and become non-conducting, and that takes a couple of months. Hence, the blanking period. Flutter happens after an ablation because flutter is caused by electrical barriers in the atrial tissue that aren'by colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Interesting. 500 grams of mushrooms is quite a lot. I used to grow them in my early days. They are on the superfood list. Maybe mushrooms on toast for breakfast one day and natto on the other?by colindo - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Quotegloaming And just to let you know, when I had my first ablation, and the blanking period had passed, my Holter report showed a lot of PACs. The outreach nurse who asked me to call to discuss the results raised her voice and emphasized the word 'lot' over the phone, and gave that little pause for extra effect after uttering it. I wonder what "A heavy PAC burden" means? How many PACs is that?by colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuotePavanPharter NK has very poor bioavailability when released into the stomach. Alright, ConsumerLabs rates Nattovena highly but these are definitely not enteric capsules. A friend of mine looked at dozens of papers and came up with this conclusion: "nattokinase enteric bioavailability ~1.4%" Before my ablation I took Nattovena daily, one in the morning and one at niby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteThe Anti-Fib I have had taken the drug alot in the past, and kept detailed records of both starting and stopping Medications and any AFIB episodes. There is some medical literature showing that Naproxen can alter the NA+/K+ balance in the Atria, both when you start and then stop the drug. Do you still take it? If not, then what do you take in its place? And are you on a blood thinner?by colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have gout like symptoms but I don't think it is gout as there are no uric acid crystals and I think Naproxen will be prescribed, is it OK to take this while in blanking period. I think i read somewhere that it's not a good idea as it can trigger afib. Gout like symptoms and blood thinners. I see Pradaxa is on a medicines monitoring (M² logo) scheme. Carey, When you replied to a resent post that you had gone on a 50 mile bike ride a week or two after your ablation, I thought this can't be right as my way of thinking, it sure would put a huge strain on the healing heart. That's when I started looking for some guidance and came across the "American Heart Association for target heart rate numbers for adults ages 45 to 70:"by colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteKen Not clear to me, but it seems for me at age 77, my range is - 75 to 128 bpm. So what exactly does this mean? At least 75 for any cardiovascular fitness benefit and a max of 128 for safety? It seems that my max HR is 125 and I can't get it any higher, that's on a 15% incline on a treadmill walking fast at 3.5 mph for over 15 min. My resting rate as I sit here now is 60,by colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks George, I just found this pdf from Which i think is much about what you are saying. I think I would start doing just the 30 minute continusious exercise and no weights, keeping an eye on my heart rate. Would you like to comment.by colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteKen Too much gap between the highs and lows to be of any value. If the American Heart Association heart rate numbers are of no value where then can we get numbers that are of some value? People who have had an ablation need some guidance, at least during the blanking period.by colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
The below link is guidance for post ablatee wanting to know how far they can push themselves. The following is an estimate given by the American Heart Association for target heart rate numbers for adults ages 45 to 70: 45 years: 88 to 149 beats per minute 50 years: 85 to 145 beats per minute 55 years: 83 to 140 beats per minute 60 years: 80 to 136 beats per minute 65 years: 78 to 132 beby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM

Quotemelturet As a newbie to this forum I find it difficult to follow when so many acronyms are used and no place to see them defined. I understand the need to use them but I find this unknown makes it difficult to fully understand the communication. Yes I agree. In the past I asked for a place where these abbreviations could be defined and so far no luck. BTW what does CYA mean?by colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteCarey I agree you probably don't need to be on an anticoagulant but I bet you'd get a mix of opinions if you asked several doctors. You could always do what I did: compromise and switch to a half-dose of Eliquis. Doing that got the endorsement of my PCP and two EPs, one of which was Natale. And I have a Watchman which puts me at the same risk level as someone who's never had aby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM

Thanks GeorgeN and other posters for your help. It seems it's a rare post ablation condition, thankfully I have no headache today. Hopefully that's the end of it.by colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Is it common to experience morning headaches after an ablation? What does it mean and how long do they last? Also my resting heart rate has gradually gone up, now 76ppm.by colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteCarey Colindo, how do you know how much it thinned your blood? I carried out some tests with and without nattokinase by launching my finger with a size D launce, and timed how long it took to stop bleeding. I timed this by dabbing finger on blotting paper every 10 seconds. There was a noticeable difference. Also when i went for a blood test I was asked if I was taking blood thinners.by colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
I did some tests some years ago and although nattokinase thinned my blood it is nothing compared to Pradaxa which I am taking now. (I have just had an ablation) So, I would expect nattokinase would have very little effect. I was eating natto while taking Pradaxa up until a week before my ablation with no effect and will resume in a couple of weeks. There is an issue with Statins, in that thby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM

Eliquis is not offered by the Doctor as it is not a free medicine, I have since found it being offered for sale at about $145.00 nzd for 60 tablets. As Carey says would it make any difference changing to a different brand. My Doctor didn't think so, he put it that, they all do much the same thing..
