Welcome Erich, You've found the right place for sure. All of the above posts from some of our long time active community members are excellent points. TomB's experience does happen from time to time where a person finds they have strong reactions to one or more of the key supplements in: http://www.afibbers.org/resources/strategy.pdf]The Strategy Protocolwhich should be your veryby Shannon - AFIBBERS FORUM
That's interesting Liz what your EP said and fortunately your reaction to a Coumadin so quickly isn't that common though it does happen at times.Coumadin works by a quite different mechanism , Vitamin K antagonist, compared to Xeralto or Eliquis which impact Factor Xa in the coagulation cascade. Perhaps he has just seen some propensity for those with such immediate symptoms like yoursby Shannon - AFIBBERS FORUM
CatalinRo, Follow Peggy's suggestion and there are more details here: http://www.afibbers.org/resources/strategy.pdf]The Strategy and here: http://www.afibbers.org/resources/PacTamer.pdf]PAC Tamer recipe. These protocols followed with dedication almost always do the trick in calming down or greatly lessening ectopic periods. Best wishes, Shannonby Shannon - AFIBBERS FORUM
LIz, I was a vegetarian during my younger years when AFIB is much less common to manifest anyway, I have a strong familiar AFIB issue that effected members of my mother's side ( she died when she was just 45 so we don't know if she would have developed AF too but her older sister, and mother did. Plus my father had AFIB and died from a stroke, as does my sister whose story Ive recounby Shannon - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Hi MikeJ Thanks for the idea. And its one I've been formulating how to best to structure and maintain updates on for some time now. Also so I can have a thorough boiler plate set of responses to frequent questions so that the regulars here don't have to reinvent the wheel each time a common and key question gets asked any of us can then just point to such a guidelines post and save aby Shannon - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Nancy, Just discuss it with Dr Hongo when he comes in to see you after the ablation. Once he visits you in your room after its all over you should be plenty clear enough for that conversation. And I would not worry too much about it either way. PPIs may have more impact on reducing mag absorption than does Carafate but just use that as a guideline and taking either for just a few weeks isby Shannon - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Jean, you are welcome and it was nice speaking with you today. Take care and keep us posted. Shannonby Shannon - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Nancy, Here is the link from our AFIB Resources link above on this page to Hans' very good Post Ablation Care' article that has just about all you would need. A few other additions that will help as well are Vitamin D3 in sufficient doses starting with 5,000IU a day, and use an oil-based Vitamin D3 rather than a powder based supplement. Hi CatalinRo, Could you please provide a full URL link to the article in question? Just copy the URL and past it into the little icon button in the edit strip immediately above that looks like the earth with a little good chain link at the bottom and once you paste the URL in the first dialog box that appears, a second box pops up and just write in the blank space something like 'supplemeby Shannon - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Liz That's a very good and fair question. My sense is to try to set the standard of excellence high here with the full understanding that many will not be able to go to a Natale, Jais or Callans etc. for the reasons you mentioned and no doubt other reasons as well. But at least give a blueprint for people of what the very best looks like, and thus we do try to convey these top EPs ownby Shannon - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ha researcher, someone has to do it, right! I figured you'd be familiar with most of those faculty at this conference. Should be interesting. You're welcome Iatrogenia glad you find the technical side of this discussion worthwhile as well. HI Mike and Sally,' Dr Ernst is a pretty well known name there in the UK from what I understand, though I am not as familiar with her protocol. Keep in mind that both Dr Schilling and Dr Ernst could easily point to many patients who were 'one and done', so its hard to draw a conclusion from just one or two isolated anecdotes. Hi Smackman. Please check your PM as Id like to get some more contact info for you. As it turns out, I am coming to Austin next week to attend the very interesting EP-Live 2014 conference that just so happens to be starting on the very same day as your procedure so I can drop in and check on how things are going after your procedure if you'd like a little company that is? Tsco, Refer to the exact same issue in Smackmans tread found here and you will see the answer he got back from Dr Natale's nurse as he is on his way next week to get his ablation Thursday in Austin and have identical concerns as you do once off Multaq in his case. Here is the thread to find you answer but be sure to double check with your own nurse at Dr Tomassoni's office too. Anby Shannon - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks George, Ive amended my last paragraph above with the qualifier to confirm that who you choose as your EP is actually going to be your ablationist and no pinch hitter joins in the fun once your are in dreamland! here is my amendment I included in my post above .......and make double sure that ONLY the EP you signed on the dotted line for will be handing the catheter inside your hby Shannon - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi researcher I too expect this whole area of research and development to pay real dividends as the years go by, and likely in ways not fully anticipated now. Although I expect a real boon will be in better diagnosing or arrhythmias and follow up after ablations and monitoring and adjusting drug therapy via the non-invasive vest-like systems will really help fine tune the diagnosis and could bby Shannon - AFIBBERS FORUM
Liz, That serious adverse event rate of 9% was derived from a quite small group of patients at obviously a not very experienced center and marginal EPs as well on average to get that bad of results... Yes researcher the spatial differences with a 64 in a small area versus a 256 vest is a valid point as you note, but the Basket catheter often fails to make full contact inside the atrium which limits resolution utility . They are trying to address that limitation with a larger array basket catheter now. Thanks for the report back Smackman. I figured your Nurse at Dr Natale's office would confirm the good news for you about the immediate release Metoprolol, but its always best that kind of specific comes from your EPs office when you have a procedure up coming. Thanks for the report Iatrogenia, but be aware that this not recent news and is still far from proven, This report is nearly two years old now, and the excitement over FIRM has muted considerably. Hi Randy, Yes based on your description I wouldn't worry at all about it, as it will just fade away until you realize you haven't thought about it for a while and that will be it. Hi Jean, Thanks for the lengthy and very thorough ablation report. You did require a very extensive ablation for sure which is understandable what with your age, being female and significant presence of wide spread right and left atrial fibrosis.
