Ablate with a top EP and don't look back......everything else is just useless for most. I waited too long and suffered a stroke! Just read all of Shannon's posts for a reality check. McHaleby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Karen, Pinski would be the man in your part. Cyro ablations may nor be as durable as RF either from all info I have read. McHaleby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had a stroke because I waited......... Natale did my ablation May 28.....best decision in my lifeby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hey Barb, Welcome back and glad you're doing well. Yes 10 years is a long time but at least you had it done. Taking Flec is normal protocol during the blanking period. Taking it for 2 months is actually a short time usually it's for three months during the blanking period. But Dr Natale believes any afib after the 2 months will require a touch-up not the standard three month blankingby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM

Hey Barb, NSR at week 14 today, looking back it seems such a long time ago. I'm off the Multaq now for about 11 days too and heart holding steady. Best decision of my life. Give my regards to Natale for a job well done. Best Wishes, McHaleby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM

Shannon, Excellent post, I knew we kept you around here for a reason...... I guess I got it backwards or something like that....... So which one would be easier to strangle via Lariet? My guess would be the Chicken Wing. McHaleby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM

I had a stroke exactly one year ago this labor day weekend and I was a CHADS 0. Just 2 months earlier I had blood work done and my numbers were excellent. I check my blood pressure everyday too sometimes 3x a day. The only thing that was different last labor day weekend was I was in and out of afib for 4 days. I've read some recent studies where many afibbers both paroxysmal and persistentby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
I met Dr Natale for the first time May 28 and got ablated 2 hours later here in NYC. Before that I tried to figure out for 2 years who to go to and had 3 consultations with other EP's...........by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Barb, I was in and out of Afib last labor Day weekend for about 4 days and boom stroke on September 5. Natale told me the shape of your LAA is an independent factor regardless of Chads scores. Low Chads scores does not mean you wont stroke out as I find out the hard way.by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
I was cardioverted on day 30 post ablation after 15 days in afib, tach then solid flutter. I'm 87 days postop and except for a few tachy episodes I'm in NSR. Just stopped Multaq too. I was never cardioverted in 4 years since diagnosis, my burden was 2-3 times a month then 2-3 week before Natale performed his magic. A rule of thumb you need an ARR to keep you in NSR once your afib burdeby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Robert, I'm glad you found comfort in our postings, I was comforted in the same way. Dr Natale told me the same thing 2 weeks ago, anesthesia can calm and mask any focal points during the ablation. So any further afib or flutter going forward will involve the LAA. He just doesn't see anymore PV reconnections. Enjoy your NSR McHaleby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM

Cathy B, I talked to Dr Natale about if I knew about Xarelto last year I could have used that as a PIP during my fatal labor day weekend when I suffered a TIA. He agreed that would have been they way to go since I couldn't do that with Wafarin. This would probably be the way to go forward when we decide I can stop Xarelto as long as I check my pulse before and after bed. I also have the Aby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Robert, I remember one Sunday in May having a beer watching the NBA playoffs when I got an Email from Shannon telling me my angel is coming to St Lukes. I meet the "MAN" for the first time right after Memorial Day, May 28 at 12:30pm and the next thing you know we pulled the trigger after a 40 min consultation. There was no hesitation whatsoever, actual elation as he comes back and givby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Again it's half the story so lets talk about compliance. My cardiologist who has 5 offices and has a huge patient history after 25 years sees much less people stroking out now. How many more strokes have been prevented because more patients are willing to use these new drugs. This means that managed care may be able to vastly reduce the cost of paying for stroke care for the patients curreby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM

I've been on Xarelto for close to a year with absolutely no issues. Being on the other side of a TIA looking in was no fun as I was speechless for 10 mins and that's the bottom line. Paralysis possibly for life or a blood thinner? I wouldn't lump Pradaxa in with Xarelto, that's not what Shannon said, not enough data yet but it does seem safer. Shannon, Nice to hear your voice last night as I was at the same moment discussing your Lariat procedure with my cardiologist. Priceless! Get well soon and a speedy recovery! Best, McHaleby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Barb, You made the decision now stop reading and focus on the fact that Dr Natale is one of the best! My moms TAVR Trans Aortic heart valve replacement also had to be done thru the femoral artery, but she had to be cut by a vascular surgeon in her abdomen to thread the valve into her heart. Much more complicated procedure than what Dr N is doing to place the catheters. She had a perfect placemeby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM

Sam, You're right 45 mins is the ideal workout, so yesterday I worked out for about 1 hr 15 mins. It's just so hard to do a fully body workout in the time frame when I circuit train . I stay fairly light now, for me anyway. Barb, I'm still on Multaq for another month as is Dennis, then we stop. I'm also on a Beta Blocker 25 mg Tropol too which I might continue or switchby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Nice to hear 8 years of NSR with one of the Best! I just had my Natale ablation May 28 after meeting him for the first time that day at 12:30pm. Then we just decided to just do it then. Never hesitated for a second when he asked me do you want to go now! The man is a humble genius and a Mastetro with the catheter!!! Feeling great after a bit of a rough start the first month!
