You should be going in with a cheat sheet so you don't forget anything. But again with Natale you might not need to......by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
You beat me to the post! My concern is GPLC it has L-Carnitine So is this another supplement we've been taking doing harm?by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Vernakalante has been abandoned by the manufacturer for further development in oral pill form. Ranolazine is entering trials. Dr Stavros Stavrakis, MD, PhD emailed me back a few months ago when he was recruiting patients which surprised me.by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Gill, My episodes never lasted more than a week. But I do use Flecainide so does that change my classification? I'd rather stay on Flec than stop and try to find out if my frequency changes. TYPES OF A-FIB There are three types of Atrial Fibrillation. In casual usage you may hear the three types of A Fib described as occasional, persistent, and permanent or chronic A Fib. Your doctorby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
What is the true definition of persistent AFIB ? I get AFIB every 7-10 days usually converting within 24-48 hours. Been on daily dose of Flec 150mg am and 100mg Pm Flec also prevents structural and electrical remodeling according to a Euuropace Study My episodes are basically mild but I know it when I'm off I guess this is reinforced by the Japanese study too!by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Out of the 2013 AFIB Symposium * More afib does not make more fibrosis (we need to rethink "afib begets afib"winking smiley * The length of AF and burden of AF bear no relationship to the amount of fibrosis - arrhythmia does not cause it * Ablation is not a cure - fibrosis cannot be cured by ablation; in fact, that after a successful ablation, remodeling continues to be progressiby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hey Tom, Still got the monkey on my back too but doing okay living life to the fullest. I'm staying on the Flec for now episodes seem to have diminished once I cut back on supplements but still have break outs every 7-10-14 days nothing that I let bother me. Usually a scotch or beer calms it down or stops it many times go figure. In light of some of the news out of the AFIB Symposium 2013 dby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Tom B, Good to hear you're doing well at 6 months especially after you went permanent.by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
I guess there's a little reading between the lines. The impression I got or was told that these guys are superstars and may not be doing the whole ablation start to finish. But then again this comes from young guns with only 300-400 CA under their belts so they are eager and hungry. So you got the cowboys and the young aggressive EP's who are looking to make their mark. Dr Chintz and Drby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Barb, I've also consulted with Dr Steinberg who does his ablation at North Valley in NJ top rated hospyal and new lab. He's done well over 2000 ablations does both cyro and RF and is running trials with 6 other EPs with FIRM.by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hey Shannon, Vit K-dependent protein gas 6 that maybe involved in intercranial bleeds with Warfarin. I will admit not one mention of an antidote?.....although I didn't watch the whole video Welcome backby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
You are not at any greater risk of stroke if you temporarily stop these Xa inhibitors as compared to Wafarin. So lets stop scaring people that should be anticoagulantedby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
I responded the other day........Anyway Dr Chinitz is going to North Shore LIJ. Got that from my moms cardiologist and the EP next door both from LIJ who I just happened to strike up a conversation with by asking him a question. He told me if it was his mom or brother that needed an ablation he would send them to Francis E. Marchlinski, MD of U Penn. 2 hours drive from the city 115 miles.by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ive been scaling and deep cleaning my teeth now 4 X a year for 15 years and prior to that usually 2x a year. Yea right it's prevented my afib...........no offense intended but everything seems to cause afib but yet no one knows anything about it either.......geesh! This is the only disease that they can’t make up their minds about.by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
PeggM, Also these new drugs are much safer in regards to Intracranial/Hemorrhagic stroke especially when warfarin is not well controlled between an INR of 2-3. Also there's a protein affected by warfarin that's implicated in Hemorrhagic strokes that is not a problem with these new agents.by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
PeggyM, I'm with you on this no matter how much people tell me otherwise. I'm on Xarelto since September 6 had a TIA but resolved in 5 mins. Absolutely easy to take with no restrictions on what I eat or drink. Being in a wheel chair or paralyzed could have been my fate! I'm enjoying life to the fullest and will probably get ablated this year. Yes Its dangerous to discontinue anyby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
I wonder if he will be taking Dr Chinitz place at NYU Langone who's going to LIJ?by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
I just happened to be in Mt Sinai today for my moms aortic heart valve stenosis and there was Dr Reddy who came out of his office. Even though I didn't speak with him as he was consulting with his nurses and doctors there's a professionalism to him that I really like. I consulted with him in Oct. I should have just booked a procedure right there.by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Tom P, Good to hear.....! No if I could find a set to do it. Lot still depends on who to go to......by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Will the over provide protection too from being dropped or do we have to snap it on and off when not using it?by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
I emailed the lead investigator on thisby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Shannon, I didn't know about The Dream but let's add 2 more Bill Bradley of the Knicks and US senator and Derrick Coleman of the Ny Nets. Speaking of stress my whole life has been about uncontrollable stress from a child.by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
My cardiologist had told me about Ranolazine over a year ago but when I asked him to prescribe it last month he told me to wait and let's not mess with the Flec right now. Interesting article about preventing atrial stretch which both Ranolazine and Flecainaide both prevent . Did I read the article right on this? My left atrium had grew from 4.1 to 4.4 then 4.6 during the first 2 years aftby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
I just upgraded to an iPhone 5 too.by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Touching story so sorry to hear about your difficulties. I was a gym rat who loved playing basketball from cement courts of school yards in Brooklyn and Queens to the wooden floors of schools, churches and my colleges. I proudly wore # 44 on my Jersey as a kid then wore # 33 as I got a little older.as I watched a slow white kid from French Lick who couldn't run or jump dominate in collegby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Flecanaide is body weight dependent so ask your doctor if you can up the dose because 50mg is low dose or starting dose. I take 150mg in AM 100mg PM. I weigh about 205lb. Waking up in a panic is also a sign of sleep apnea First degree heart block is caused by the Flec nothing to worry about.by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
I spoke to a EP that happened to have his door open during my mothers Cadiologist visit and INR test. He's done about 350 ablations was at Cleveland Clinic during Natale reign doing his fellowship and ended up at the University of Pennsylvania and was trained in AFIB ablations by Francis E. Marchlinski, where he did 160 of those ablations. He told me if it was a close relative or his mother tby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM

Barb, Dr Chintz's lab is up and running again and they are back to doing ablations. That's the problem everyone talks about Natale as the only go to guy that it presents confusion and doubt about every other EP. If Natale was in New York I would have done it already myself........ So were stuck with "Chintz, Reddy and Steinberg"........ who ablate at 3 of the top hospitalsby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Their main weakness however, is their limited lifespan. Traditional tissue valves, made of pig heart valves, will last on average 15 years before they require replacement (but typically less in younger patients).by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
