Steve, He's treating his condition with AAR's and coumadin is all I can find out. Thanks I give you credit for going to the best in France. Right now I've resolved myself to taking Xarelto for a long time ablation or not. I don't want to sweat what I can't change right now. Friend at work has been taking coumadin for 25 years because of mechanical heart valve and a fiby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Omega 3s May Be No Help Against Stroke, MI Marvelousby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Researcher, My take on it is this; a successful ablation 3-6-9-12 months post-op with proper monitoring you can come off coumadin if you're a Chads score 0-4. If you're still getting afib but ignore it thinking you're cured because of the ablation or you have silent or asymptotic afib now that's dangerous. That's why those 2 examples of Chads 0 patients got a stroke as tby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Dr Reddy just emailed me and told me they Wait for a long time post ablation and depending on The details could be over a year before stopping coumadin He also told me he's personally done over 1000 Ablations not sure of the exact numbers and his Center averages over 800 a year I guess those are great numbersby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM

I saw my cardiologist last night and he explained to me that Wafarin reversal is not as quick as one would believe. Due to the rapid offset of Xarelto and Pradaxa in certain cases of bleeding you might be better off. He also told me even after an ablation I might have to stay on anticoagulants due to my TIA or Stroke as the jury is still out on this? Anyway watch this video interesting points aby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Researcher, I've was told last night by my cardiologist that even after an ablation because of my TIAs or Stroke I probably would have to stay on blood thinners anyway. Is this really true?by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie I'm glad you finally responded the silence was killing me. I was taking Omega 3 fish oil to make platelets slippery and optimal magnesium that didn't prevent platelet aggregation and non-drugs that didn't make a difference. Now I'm stuck on blood thinners! Now What? What cardiologist told me even after an ablation they might want to keep me on blood thinners the jury iby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Phyllis, What was your CHAD score? What is your age? So sorry to hear about your stroke! My recent stroke was short lived only about 10 mins long. I think many affibbers think they are getting PVCs/PACs but in reality it's afib. That was my downfall.by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Steve, Wow we have lots in common same age length of afib! Boston Celtics Kevin Mchale and Bird,at Boston Garden on Causeway street watching them annihilate opponents , Hilltop Steak House, Faneuil hall , Legal Seafood, Quincy......PR1ME Computer in Framingham and Natick...ring a bell...those were the days before afib! Bird has it too! Steinberg is 3rd on my list so we'll see. I'mby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM

Hey Steve, Yes I need to line up my ducks so to speak and go see some EP's. There are some good ones here in the NY city top notch Vivek Reddy, Larry Chinitz and Jonathan Steinberg. I emailed "Evelyn" who went to Reddy Jan 2010 and she's still in blissful NSR still without any blips. I think these 3 EP's are elite it's just that they don't get the credit on thby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM

Tom, Do we really know our hearts are not throwing out clots? My MRI revealed 2 other tiny clots I knew nothing about. So the last one was obvious what about the older ones? How many here have had an MRI done on their brain? Something to think about ........by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Gus, I went to a Johnny Walker Scotch tasting event here in New York City during the holidays and man what an educational lesson the Scottish speaker gave; 18 blends from different parts of Scotland go into every label as we tasted the RED, Black, Double Black, Gold, Green and Blue. The different flavors and aromas that come thru when you drink it straight, on the rocks, with water, ginger ale,by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Yes if it only takes 5 to 20 mins to form clots then I would agree but that warning is for people in permanent or persistent afib I'm talking about for example I've been in NSR for about 6 days now I don't see how if basically I stay in NSR this wouldn't be plausible? If new data is suggesting clots form in 5 mins then we're all vulnerable!by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Gus, My trigger was alcohol I now know. This does not happen always but lately it has sometimes setting off a run of pace/pvcs that would lead to afib. Excersise may have been another trigger... Trained like an animal and lifted heavyweights with kids half have my age and always out lifted them proud to say. I'm going to see if lighter workouts set of my afib now without alcohol on weekenby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
I just finished a 10 min run and some weight lighting I feel good no stroke disability I can move all my limbs speech is good Thought process clear. Listen to me you are going thru the same symptoms I chose to ignore! Don't be foolish and don't listen to everything that may sound That maybe we can cure this here..... Maybe for a lucky few ......This is The best place to get info sby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Sitting here counting my lucky stars I guess so I've been thinking. They have a rapid onset of action, but, on the flip side, they also have rapid offset. “If a patient forgets one dose of rivaroxaban or dabigatran, they could be in big trouble, In one day much of the anticoagulant effect is lost. This is good and bad as if you were to have surgery or a dental cleaning missing 1 or 2 dosesby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Gus, Just be careful and listen to your body. How old are you? What's your Chads Score? Do you have high blood pressure diabetes etc....look at the Chads score for that. If you're getting constant afib my feeling is throw the Chads score out the window as a stroke can happen as it did with me and protect yourself. I was lucky as it was a tiny ischemic mild stroke but a stroke nonthelesby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM

Thanks Sweety First time I'm hearing Dr Steinberg is involved in FIRM. Great to know.WOW who are you! Funny the first EP I met with a few months back from Mt Sinai who's treating my mothers afib told me to stay away from Steinberg forget the reasons he gave..............I wonder why he would say that? He Told me Chinitz was okay.by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM

Actually I just got my report and spoke to the head neurologist I had a tiny mild ischemic stroke and two other similar older ones....WTF Wow dodged 3 bullets. The whole ward was filled with patients with devastating strokes some younger too.....scary! Barb, This is New York City we got to have some of the best here too.
