Jackie, I not making an absolute statement. Flec is helping many stay in NSR some for 12 years others for 6 months. The point I'm making stay on Flec if it works full time to prevent electrical and structural remodeling. This will buy many time as techniques get better like FIRM or photodynamic therapy and nanotechnology. You prove my point you got 6 years out of Flec and had a successfulby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
He won a Gold medal! Speaking of gold medals some guy named Phelps won 18 GOLD 22 total medals.....Who is this guy Superman.......by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
My statement is based on logical reasoning that over 80% of us will progress to permanent eventually is what statistics show. Two studies one from Europace that shows after 25 years Flec is safe and effective and prevents electrical and structural remodeling and now a study from EP's from Michigan in Han's monthly afib report that shows progression is cut in half . AFIB begets AFIB so iby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM

Hans great report once again. Good to hear more good news on certain ADD's Class 1C antiarrhythmic drugs (propafenone, flecainide) cut progression rate in half with ablation stopping the progression to permanent afib.by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hey Gregg, I was going to email you to see how you were doing. Sorry to hear about the setback. When did you find out about the Mitral valve problems? Did you have regurgitation that got progressively worse?by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
WOW indeed Victor! Thanks so much.....who knew it could be so simple! How about a cure for cancer? or Diabetes?by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
John, Good to hear your dad lived 30 years without symptoms. Just goes to show you we are all different when it comes to afib. My mom just turned 84 last week went into permanent afib in Feb after her aortic valve closed up on her. She doesn't feel any symptoms and we just control her rate with metoprolol and use coumadin and she is still very active.by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
I'm not bothered by this vested interest since he's exported this technology to 8 top EP centers who are getting even better preliminary results then he is. Hey this is the way it works like or not and if this technology fails it was crash and burn.by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Tom B, That's exactly what I've been warning about but I got slammed here on of couple occasions for sounding the alarm. You can supplement all you want but we all know the reality. Yearly echos are important to track any changes. Flecainide did shrink my atrial size back down from 4.6cm back down to 3.0cm but an ablation is soon in the cards. There is also a phenomenon called atriaby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM

Rosemarie, Are you currently in AFIB? With a Chads score of 0 you may not be at any higher risk of stroke than the general population.by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM

Taking Flec now for daily for 16 months currently 100mg am and 50mg pm along with a morning dose of Tropol 25mg. No side effects that I know of though I always tolerated drugs well both the legal and illegal kind.........AFIB pretty well controlled I believe with some irregularity every 7-10 days most likey pac's/pvc's. Never needed cardioversion as I readily return to NSR. I don'tby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Namor Thanks for the clarification excellent. So the PV's are the fuse and the gun powder that sustains the explosion of afib is in the atrium......... Shannon I believe this is more than prior false starts as the centers he's exported this to are reporting even better success than him if I recall?by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had 6 pillars shot into my palate to stabilize my flimsy uvula.by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Researcher, You beat me to this post as I got an email from Heartwire the other day Correct me if I'm wrong but PVI may not be necessary with FIRM in many cases as they were able to stop afib quickly in the majority of cases which perplexed some EP's because many thought afib emanated from the pulmonary veins......by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
My cardiologist told me a few months back his center in Staten Island NY just starting using 2nd Generation cyro so maybe this will be a smaller shaft!by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Researcher, I hear what your saying and I know first hand about some of the learning curves he's experienced with the new gadgets............ Just need to make sure he is doing most of the burns and not some first year intern being that it's a teaching hospital! I think FIRM are nothing more than a more targeted approach with less burning and I'm sure he'll do very well witby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Researcher, Vivek Reddy also responded to my email confirming he is also doing FIRM ablations..........depending on the clinical scenario (paroxysmal vs persistent, duration of AF, co-morbidites, drug use, heart size, etc). I hear he's top notch from other forums but doesn't get enough exposure here for some reason......by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Good Luck Tom! I too think I've got this beat sometimes....not really deep down I know no matter how much I supplement it comes back. Sad fact is yes supplements help but let's not fool ourselves either........ I went about 5-6 weeks using WW thinking that might do it but I've been erratic again the last 10 days. I don't get cardioverted as I readily return to NSR but I waby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Tiger, This has been discussed on here many times so do a search. I'm in sort of the same boat as you are and I'm waiting but taking meds Tropol and Flec and supplementing with Wally Water helping lots. My gut feeling is FIRM ablation will be the gold standard using minimum burns to stop AFIB rather than riddling the heart with aggressive burns. Why wait? Because procedures get incrby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
yep I have/ had that too Same thoughts a buildup then an eruption!by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Sort of clueless don't you think! "But I wouldn't miss any starts," Niese said. "It's an 'ablation,' they call it. They go inside the heart and they crimp something of some sort -- like the cause of it. It's like an outpatient thing that they do that it only takes like three days to recover from after that.by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
The same thing was said to me by two top surgeons and other doctors who told me my mothers colon cancer tumor was way too big to do laproscopically with minimally Invasive Surgery and was not a proven technique even if it was a smaller tumor. I did my research and found Dr Martin Weiser at Sloan-Kettering and when I interviewed him he calmly told me he could do both open surgery or Minimally Invby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
