Tom, Congrats but I thought you knew to always take a beta blocker to slow the heart rate down so the Flecainide or the Propafanone can convert you. A faster acting metropolol instead of Tropol XL would even be better.by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Murray, I guess you read this while I was correcting some of my bad grammar I used posting from my Iphone. I was hoping that I wasn't in afib this time around so I could get a more accurate reading.hoping that it was temporary atrial streching that showed the 4.6cm reading. I would have been happy with a 4.1cm measurement being that I still get all sorts of pacs, pvc's, ectopics, afiby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM

Geez Thanks for bursting my bubble researcher! 3.0 is quite in the normal range between 1.9-4cm so I'm right in the middle. The biggest plus here is I don't electrically and structurally remodel so I can wait it out a while longer until they figure out how to make ablation lines durable on the first shot!by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Amazing just got my stress/echo results back. My Left Atrial diameter shrank dramatically from 4.6cm-4.4cm down to 3.0cm. Was it the Flec? Prior to Flec it enlarged to 4.6 then 2 months on Flec I had a followup echo where It was 4.4 now 13 months later it's 3.0cm! Before Afib diagnosis it was between 3.9-4.1cm according to my old stress test reports. The 4.6 and 4.4 readings the last 2 yeaby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
AUGUST 28, 2010 CryoBalloon Combined with RF Ablation---the future of A-Fib treatment CryoBalloon ablation is safe and effective in Pulmonary Vein Isolation, but is limited in treating persistent A-Fib (because it only isolates the pulmonary veins and not other parts of the heart). Doctors at Mass General used a combined CryoBalloon and RF ablation to treat patients with persistent A-Fiby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Murray, I called today to have my report faxed but my doctor didn't sign off on it yet. Hopefully I 'll get it tomorrow to confirm what the Tech told me.by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
I was also told to take a baby aspirin 81mg daily by an EP I just saw and he told me don't believe everything you read on the Web. My dilemma too but I followed his advice till I sort this out in my mind. I have acid reflex and had bad erosion years back so I need to be careful but then again I had quite a different lifestyle.by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
I wonder if the watchman device would then be an option?by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had my echo/stress test yesterday and other than very high blood pressure due to a stressful day, then stuck in traffic, no coffee for 5 days I just worked myself up that afib would kick in. It didn't and I was able to finish the 12 min test with level 4 being quite intense with a steep climb at a brisk pace. The beauty of watching the monitors show NSR was a sight for sore eyes fantasticby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Dick, Thanks for the post. Looks like afib treatment is is approaching a turning point with all signs pointing to a cure...................by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Chuck Connors aka The Rifleman? Cyro was just approved in the US last year but has been used extensively in Europe for over 5 years. I't best for paroxysmal afib as the cyro ballon catheters can't be maneuvered to other areas other than the pulmonary veins. My cardiologist in Staten Island NY has recommended I go see Marcin Kowalski, the EP in the newly built lab last year who doesby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Adrian, Best wishes for NSR. Just curious when you said re-ablate 3 of the 4 pulmonary veins that had reconnected was that prior ablations or did she wait and go back to re-ablate them during the same procedure?by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hard afib vs soft afib interesting description. I don't think I've ever been in hard afib. As far as remodeling is concerned I wonder if it's the same?by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Tom, I don't think caffeine is an issue for me either but I'm at the end of my rope it's been three years now and I'm trying anything. This week was the worse I've ever had with all kinds of irregularities which never lasted for more than 2 days. I'm in sweet NSR since yesterday after 7 days. Just had a hard workout too let's see if anything is triggered the neby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Tom, What about caffeine? Just curious because my last hope to avoid ablation is no more coffee even the 1 or 2 cups I've been having but that never triggered afib or ecotpics. My brother insists it's the buildup of caffeine in the tissues that triggers arrhythmia so it's not an immediate cause and effect. Some studies have shown coffee drinkers have less arrhythmia Any tby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
I just found this study linking afib more to central sleep apnea than obstructive sleep apnea. In that study, we found a strong association between AF and CSA but not OSA. Among patients with CSA, AF was present in 23%, compared with only 12% in those with OSA, and 7.5% in those with no sleep apnea. Thus, among patients with congestive heart failure, AF is significantly linked to CSA.by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Barb, I asked for a Stress/Echo Tueday before I see my cardiologist in 2 weeks. If my LA has enlarged anymore it's ablation time. I'm still getting lots of erratic beats I'm sure with afib thrown in especially this week.......... I'm getting unnervedby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
I've been taking Flec for about a year now currently at 300mg split am/pm. Tuesday I go for stress/echo and if my LA diameter grew some more it's ablation time for me. I'm still getting lots of erratic beats I'm sure with afib thrown in. Marvelousby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hans, I mentioned this to an EP I recently saw and he wasn't aware of this. Can you speculate on the success rates for persistent affibers? 70-80% maybe?by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM

Hans, U.S. News & World Report Ranks St. Francis One of the Nation’s Best Any info on St Francis out on Long Island New York? They have top guns out there in all areas of the heart that must have top EP specialists in AFIB. They claim they are a high volume center and do the most procedures in all New York Stateby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Barb, We need to find out more about Dr. Ram Jadanoth and how many afib ablations he has under his belt. I talked with my friend today and within the first 5 mins during the consultation he knew he found the right EP. He also came highly recommended from many he told me. Researcher, Wow over 20 years wish we were so lucky. I'm surprised you're still so interested but appreciateby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
