Hans, Then who would you recommend in New York? I wonder if I travel would my insurance cover it?by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hans, How about Mt Sinai EP's Dr Reddy? Dr Skipitaris in New York? Nicholas T. Skipitaris, MD, FHRS, CCDS Medical School: Dartmouth-Brown Prog Med Specialties: Clinical Cardiology Clinical Electrophysiology Practice Information: Device Interrogation ICD Devices CRT Devices Pacemaker Devices VT Ablation AF Ablation SVT Ablation Lead Extractions Certifications: Inby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Lisa, This is the best I could dig up but I if I recall I just heard this all over the newsby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Barb, The three doctors I would consider would be Dr Reddy Mt Sinai Dr Chiniitz at NYU and Dr Steinberg St Lukes. I was thinking Dr Chinitz or Dr Vivek Reddy but after ending up at Mt Sinai for my mothers aortic stenosis where she almost died a few months ago but the incredible talent, professionalism and empathy of all the doctors, EP's and staff that saved her life I'm leaning towaby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ive tried the supplements again especially Magnesium and Potassium just making things worse to the point it's getting scary. Cut out all salt too. Need to consult with an EP don't want to have an ablation but I may have no choice.by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Denver, To us Affibers cocky is a compliment! That you can do what you do at your age gives us all hope! Post away my man no disrespect meant at all!by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Want to prevent colon cancer? Get your regular scheduled colonoscopy starting at age 50 and earlier for those at risk. Didn't I just read something about long term aspirin use and detached retinas?by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Barb, Are you out on long Island NY from I recall? Where are you going to have it done if you need to? I sure you thought about it. Researcher, Both my cardiologist and my mom's EP both told me this is a rapidly evolving field. The EP is from Mt Sinai New York under Dr Reddy top Heart/CA center and he told me to hold off on an ablation big breakthrough's coming. I need to set upby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Darrell, Thanks for that I needed to hear it. My cardiologist did note I was mildly dilated on the echo at 4.4cm. My prior readings were 4.1cm. The prior echo showed 4.6cm but I think the technologist doing it was clueless. Also echos are open to interpretation with the X Y axis as to accuracy that has something to do with the Tech's skill. I have to dig up the article. In any case I wasby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Tom is right on way too many supplements.by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
tobherd being on Flec does prevent electrical and structural remodeling according to some recent Europace studies. If my next echo LA comes in at under 4.4cm was 4.6 before I started Flec then that will be great. I'm in the same boat I go out of wack every 7-8 days even now that I started supplementing again with Mag/K. The only thing I will say the duration may have shortened instead of laby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
God Bless you and you have every right to be cocky! Wow 24/7 and cured as far as I'm concerned. Good to see more permanent affibers with successful ablations!by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
propafenone (Rythmol SR) also has some beta blocking properties unlike Flec might be worth a shotby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Aldona, Great to hear another ablation success story which are becoming plentiful on here. Just curious what lead you to ablation?by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Did you check your radial pulse? Is it normal or erratic? Could be flutter or afib has reared it's ugly head again.by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Took Prevacid for years to deal with my erosive esophagitis.....Marvelous!by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ralph, When I took a trip to Greece this past summer for 19 days I felt great basically no erratic beats other than 1 day maybe. When I went for blood work a few months later it came back that I was Vitamin D deficient so I attributed the sun gave me just enough exposure to get enough Vit D. Now I just made the connection I also went swimming everyday so I was getting infused with Magnesiumby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Gill, A few question since I'm concerned with atrial size and fibrosis. Do you know what the size of your left atrium was before your ablation and did the doctors find any fibrosis since you were in continuous afib?by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Sounds like Vagal afib when your heart slows up too much which sets off afibby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Dr Tchou at CC is top notch.by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Interesting video CA much more complicated then I realized. FireFox doesn't work used IE. My moms EP from Mt Sinai in New York told me to hold off on CA they are really making big strides in equipment and techniques. Laser balloon catheters with direct vision are in development, touch catheters a must etc..... from what I read his boss Dr Reddy is doing trials with.....by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
I asked the doctors at Mt Sinai to put my mom on Pradaxa (Dabigatran) after her ordeal and subsequent afib but they told me because of her valve disease and even without valve disease they thought it be prudent to go with the gold standard coumadin. They weren't comfortable with Pradaxa in the elderly at this time.by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Erling, Very compelling but I know a friend of my cardiologist who totally ignored his advice to control his very high cholesterol levels. He refused statins decided to eat healthy no meat juiced fresh veggies worked out everyday etc... Had a massive coronary last year and is awaiting a heart transplant lucky to be alive got to the hospital with minuets. I would love to take my mother off statby McHale - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Still smoking WOW! You need to get serious here and stop the excuses.....yes even one cigarette is too much. As for supplements I just started again trying magnesium and potassium but have put my heart in a bad way these last few weeks pretty scary the afib, ectopics, pacs etc....wouldn't stop for 8 days till I stopped these two. For me anyway seems like everytime I try these two I get erratby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Mike, Great to hear your mom is doing well with rate control same with my mom between 70-90 sometimes drops down to 40's. Even if Tikosyn doesn't work an AV Node ablation should be avoided unless symptoms are intolerable as she would be in afib and on coumadin anyway. Keep us updated as I'm seeing my mom's EP next month. Good Luckby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
I don't belive rate control has anything to do with the left atrium which becomes chaotic but rather the left ventricle to control the rate.by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
I don't believe there is any toxicity problems from long term use of Flec unlike amnio that builds up. Some here have been on Flec 5,7 10 years from some of the posts I read....... if you develop coronary artery disease then we might have a problem! As for Metropolol it's been around for 25 years I believe and my mothers EP from Mt Sinai believes it cradles the heart or something likeby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Lisa, Thanks! She's always been a fighter beat breast and colon cancer too. Watching her in respiratory arrest was horrifying for 2 days. Now she's developed new onset afib probably from her comorbidities diabetes high blood pressure and valve disease But she's asymptomatic so coumadin and rate control is all that needed right now.by McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hey Mike, I almost lost my 83yo mother a few weeks ago due to aortic valve stenosis had a balloon valvuplasty but developed afib. We cardioverted her because it was new onset afib but within 2 days she was back in afib. However my mother feels good even in afib go figure. It doesn't seem to bother her. We saw her cardiologist yesterday Wed at 2:00pm and she upped her Tropol from 50mg toby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
