Thank you all. I think for me recovering from the anesthesia is going to be rough. Please send extra good thoughts my way!by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
Very interesting about the varying requirements for potassium supplementation. I've found a very little goes a long way with me -- I've had paradoxical reactions to as little as 75mg per day. I've been wondering about the magnesium-potassium supplement ratio, this discussion clarifies a lot for me.by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
I mixed up some Waller water and diluted it as above. I must say this is a very relaxing way to ingest magnesium! So far, I enjoy it. Swanson's has a coconut water concentrate What if I added this to the Waller water for the potassium? Is there any drawback to taking the magnesium and potassium together?by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
In San Francisco, it's one week a month. When I inquired, intake appointments with Dr. Natale were scheduled about 2 months out. I don't know how much longer it takes to schedule an ablation, I presume some number of months. The CT scan technician told me that when Dr. Natale was going to be in San Francisco, she got a flood of CT scans in preparation for his procedures, with peopleby Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
Tom, I have paradoxical reactions from the drugs also. It's the autonomic nervous system trying to maintain a certain level of arousal, and overshooting.by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM

Had another episode Monday night, lots of flutter at 160 bpm, lasting 6 hours with 5mg Lopressor, to which I had adrenergic rebound 30 hours later. Dr. Hao made room for me in his schedule next Thursday, adding an ablation in the afternoon. I started Xarelto last night. This is going to be the longest week of my life. His staff seems to think I'll feel GREAT afterwards. I hope so!by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
If low heart rate causes afib, perhaps the tendency of ablation to increase resting heart rate is an accidental benefit. I do think low heart rate might contribute to my episodes, which tend to occur now when I'm winding down for the evening.by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
If my calculations are correct, the amount of Waller water needed to make a 1-liter dilution is 0.08325 L or 23/64 US cups or 5.55 US tablespoons (when is the US going to get civilized and go metric????). It's about 1/3 cup. The result would have "approximately 125 mg of magnesium and approximately 625 mg of bicarbonate per liter and a pH of approximately 8+", as per the Recipeby Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for these resources. The essential trio being - Magnesium bicarbonate (Waller water) or glycinate - Potassium - Taurine ???by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
If necessary, dilute the propafenone with water or have it compounded into a liquid and use an oral syringe to titrate off by a fraction of a milligram at a time. Some people are very sensitive to dosage decreases of neuro-active drugs.by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks, Gill. What did you find D-Ribose did for you?by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
Gill, how much potassium, D-Ribose, Taurine and apple cider vinegar do you add to 1 liter Waller water? I'm a little confused about the Waller water instructions. It looks like you mix up 1 liter of concentrate, then dilute 333 mL with 3 2/3 L water for 4 liters total? If all you have is another 1 liter container, how much Waller water concentrate would you put in it, then add water toby Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM

Does anyone have any suggestions for mixing an electrolyte drink? To rehydrate from hyponatremia, I've been drinking Pedialyte which contains in 1 liter Sodium 45 mEq (1035 mg) Potassium 20 mEq (780 mg) Chloride 35 mEq Zinc 7.8 mg Dextrose 25 grams (Total calories in 1 liter: 100) So far, in my sodium-depleted state, this seems to tame PACs. I'm also taking magnesium suby Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
To correct the hyponatremia, which has been stubborn, I've been drinking Pedialyte the last few days, an electrolyte solution of sodium, potassium, chloride, dextrose, and a little zinc. While I was on the sodium drip in the hospital, my heartbeat was quiet and absolutely NSR. My afib bouts have been weekly, but it's been 7 days since my last one. Last night, I felt some flurriesby Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM

Would not increased time for the procedure and increased scarring be a drawback of doubling up on RF and cryo?by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
As I think back on it, probably the frequent urination during my last 2 afib episodes plus my usually low-normal sodium triggered the hyponatremia. Now I know why I always liked my food salty....by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
Yeah, me too, just had a brush with hyponatremia, was in hospital overnight getting saline. Dr. Hao does the ablation after only a week on Xarelto.by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
My sodium has always been borderline -- I've always liked my food salty. My experiment with paleo included cutting out salt -- exactly the wrong thing to do, but heck, they didn't add salt to food in paleo times. They probably drank blood from animals that licked salt. See Chris Kresser on hyponatremia and the paleo diet Saw Dr. Hao after getting out of the hospital, he said rby Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
I'm going to avoid any dramatic dietary strategies. I just got back from an emergency room visit for pounding heart, blood pressure spikes, and nearly passing out. They kept me overnight to IV 2 bags of saline -- my sodium levels were low. They suggested I might be drinking too much water and eating too little food. I'm going to stick with what's been working for me for many yeaby Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
From personal experience, I can tell you antidepressant withdrawal can be very stressful for the heart. If tapering gives you symptoms, you might want to taper slower. A very gradual reduction is slower. Seeby Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM

Hmm, interesting. I can try adding coconut oil, I've got some here. However, I don't need anything to increase insulin sensitivity, that's the problem. I see increasing insulin sensitivity is one of the claims for coconut oil I don't see any substantiation for this (see ), but a lot of interest in it on diabetes sites. Could be good for me, could be bad. Everyoneby Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ooof. That might be a problem for me. Or maybe not, since I react to low blood sugar (reactive hypoglycemia).by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
What's been your experience with blood sugar levels while you were on anti-coagulants? There are a couple of reports on the Web that Xarelto raises blood sugar quite a bit -- but just a couple, this could be static.by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks, Jackie. I didn't know the reactive hypoglycemia was a major problem until I dropped the complex carbs. I'm hoping I can stabilize on eating every 2 hours and get back to a balanced state. The good news is, I believe I've indentified a real underlying factor for my afib.by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
