I can't cite any sources confirming that anxiety contributes directly to afib, but from what I've seen over the years I think it's pretty safe to say that anxiety contributes to a cascade of events that all have distinctly negative effects on your health. Addressing anxiety should be a priority for anyone who suffers from it. There are many ways to do that, ranging from totally druby Carey - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had an ablation in 2008 at university of Pa under David Lin and since then have had about 4 breakthroughs which is not bad. I do however at times feel like a skipped beat and that kicks in the anxiety and i worry i will go into afib. I have a Kardiia device and use it often sometimes a lot which is a result of the anxiety. I get the feeling in the middle of chest below sternum and that crby SteveDaley - AFIBBERS FORUM
Coffee is definitely a trigger for my AF. MINE IS VAGAL. Alcohol is another one as is eating too fast. I can wake up with it, or laugh to hard, or sneeze, or drink something too cold and I’ll get an episode. Modern thinking tells us AF can be dangerous...you cannot have a heart rate of 190+ day in day out without it eventually causing problems. Also strokes in people wth AF CAN BE DEVASTING.by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM

Moderator, thank you for approving my account. I had stumbled upon this forum a little while ago to learn more about afib after having my second episode of it. The first episode was back in March of this year (17) when I woke up in the middle of the night. My 9 year old had crawled into bed and was kicking around and I decided to head to the spare bedroom to get some sleep. After lying back dby Ghost - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi all, I've mostly been a lurker and have really appreciated all of the information I have found here. Diagnosed with afib December 2016, probably had it for years and wrote off the episodes I had as stress/anxiety. I would be awakened anywhere between 2-4 am with heart racing to 150 bpm and in afib. Always corrected on it's own within 2-4 hours. I'd have an episode once every 18-by kantler - AFIBBERS FORUM
Millions of people with afib have been on flecainide for decades without problems. I've been on it myself multiple times and never had a problem with it. Overall I think it's one of the safest, most effective antiarrhythmics there are with the fewest side effects. Although now and then you'll encounter someone who did have negative side effects from it, those people are uncommon. Iby Carey - AFIBBERS FORUM
Just diagnosed with Afib and feeling so overwhelmed. So much info out there and don’t know what to do. Irregular heartbeat going on for years but started having episodes of very fast rates over 130. Wore 30 day event monitor and recorded Afib. No symptoms when this happens but can usually feel the heart going like crazy. My LAA was isolated by Dr. Natale because it had to be in order to restore my heart to NSR. Along with the calcium channel blocker, you could consider taking either PharmaGaba or L-theanine to help lower the anxiety/stress signals you are generating from the adrenaline surge. It would be good if you could have your adrenal function tested to see if you need adrenal support and something to help manage the excess cortisol. Jackie, So did eating the protein get rid of that weird jittery feeling? When I'm feeling like that for a few days, that is when I have more PACs and tachy. I think my extended "lower range" tachy is more from anxiety. It usually happens when I am traveling, which I do a lot. I do use a lot of Potassium Chloride since I eliminate it quicker than normal. Hello Fibbin... Your comment....... On top of that, I have had some weird tachycardia episodes. Not including my afib episode, two times I woke up around 3-4am with the feeling of anxiety, and then, when I would sit up, BOOM, my heart would jump up to 130bpm. ....... .....has a familiar ring to me from some of my previous experiences. There seems to be a curse of this board that when you post an update, something happens. I woke up at 5am this morning, on my right side, to the feeling of anxiety in my chest and a rapid heart rate. I noticed it kept going until I stood up to get my Kardia. At which point I measured it at 133bpm with a normal SNR. Over then next 2 mins it returned to 72bpm, which is my normal. Hello all, The morning of Aug 31st is my first year anniversary since entering the club. I woke up around 3am with what I knew was not a normal HR with palpitations, so I headed to the ER where I stayed in afib for about 8 hours before I converted to NSR. This was after they got my potassium up (it was well below normal). So, I have been free for a year now, I think, but some new things have cby Fibbin AFib - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hello All! Grab some Ovaltine cuz it's story time!!! I'm new to the AFIB community and sort of excited but slightly sad to be here. Hi all, In July I was diagnosed officially with AFIB at the age of 27. I've had several episodes prior, never diagnosed, and in July I had two powerful episodes, the latter of which I went to the hospital for. Right before each of the July episodes I had a sudden sense of missing heartbeats for 3 to 5 seconds before an intense surge of adrenaline and full on 190+ bpm AFIB. I'm similar to Colin above except I sometimes nap during the day so I'm wondering what the comparative sleep value of a 15 - 30 minute nap is to a 30 - 60 minute nap compared to an hour's sleep during the middle of the night. Hi guys, As mentioned in the afibbers forum, I was diagnosed about 5 months ago, had an ablation 12 days ago and I'm currently recovering at home before (most prob) returning to work next week. Cindy, A few things/thoughts: 1) I think , typically at this point, patients are not awake during ablations. Can others please comment/verify? I wanted to wite a post about my ablation, performed by Dr. Andrea Natale at the Texas Cardiac Arrhythmia Institute in Austin, TX on June 8th.
