Pretty Kittay - Regarding George’s last reply to you on magnesium being depleted by stress: Definitely consider that deficiency as an underlying factor for facilitating the arrhythmia. Also, the anxiety factor plays right into that. Stress depletes magnesium and optimal magnesium inside heart cells is mandatory. Unfortunately and typically, the first medical response to anxiety is to prescby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi All, I'm a long time consumer of the great info here. I have had Afib maybe once a year or less for the last 12 years. It seems to be vagal and lack of sleep is a huge trigger. My last episode was January 5th. I tried a Flecanide Pill in the pocket for the first time and it took me down to 5bpm and still left me in arrhythmia. Needless to say that was a scary experience. Kittay, An adrenergic trigger is from over-activity in the sympathetic nervous system. I'm guessing your anxiety/stress may qualify in this regard. So the correlation of the start of your arrhythmia with the start of taking lexapro may be from the anxiety. One thought is that stress can deplete magnesium. For some of us, supplemental magnesium has helped keep our arrhythmias in chby GeorgeN - AFIBBERS FORUM

So here's my story back in 1/2013 I had a crazy episode was at the gym on the tread mill started with like a couple of skipped beats heart went racing then it stopped. 2/2015 at 3am in the morning had the crazy heart beat again and woke me up out of a dead sleep lasted about 15 minutes and stopped by the time the medics arrived it was gone and I never caught the episode. Hi SAFIB, As you noted, low dose propranolol can take help some folks reduce a lot of PVCs to a very few (also, a low dose of 20mg propranolol can really help with anxiety caused by public speaking). The same is true for many who benefit from low dose Flecanide to help reduce an annoying high frequency of PACs. Obviously, it's preferable when satisfactory control can be had with a dietarby Shannon - AFIBBERS FORUM
Isabelle, Steve Ryan has a list of EP's, there are several in Maryland, here: http://a-fib.com/steves-list-abaltion-doctors/ I hope you find a resolution soon, before my last ablation about a year and a half ago I was at 130-150 due to SVT's for several days. I am doing well. I had a period of High Anxiety approx 3 weeks ago which triggered severe PVCs/PAC's but no AFIB episodes. Sounds like the AFIB with all of the Palpitations with your HR at 200 kind of caused an anxiety attack of sorts with a panicked reaction. Robert: Since you've been diagnosed with afib I suggest it's time for you to see an Electrophysiologist, (a Cardiologist who specializes in heart electrical issues, including afib). This may particularly be applicable to you if you don't have confidence in your Cardiologist. Sometimes continually running to the physician for more tests can produce more anxiety than comfort. Hi Robert Some coping tips from my old afib days: - Breathe deeply from your stomach, actively moving your stomach in and out. Try to feel you are releasing your stomach down into a relaxed position not tensed up in your chest. - Keep calm and lie down on your right side, I found a hot water bottle comforting, if I did this early on in my "episode" it helped shorten it. Anxiety/stress has haunted me for over 4 years. Its all about my medical issues. I take Klonopin to help but would not recommend a Benzo to anyone unless it was a last resort; Extremely addictive. hi Robert: A couple of thoughts on your post above. It sounds like you were a heavy coffee drinker. Sometimes suddenly cutting out caffeine can have a boomerang reaction on your body; bigtime headache, anxiety, nerve reactions, etc. That probably only lasts a few days but it should be taken into account.
