Thanks to Tom C and Bill K for recommending the books, Wheat Belly and Grain Brain, I was motivated to offer a report that connects the dots to consumption of modern grains, especially wheat and the myriad of resulting health problems. Of specific interest to Afibbers should be the detrimental effects on the cardiovascular system. A shorter version of this report was just published in the Afib Rby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Smackman, I'll add my congratulations as well. You and I had our ablations done on the same day. I too have been afib free this past year and ever so grateful. My HR is still high, usually around 84bpm, and I have some runs of PVC on occasion, but am so delighted to be free of the terrible afib symptoms. When I had an attack, I would be near fainting, and my arms and legs would goby Windstar - AFIBBERS FORUM
Feb.27,2014, Dr. Natale ablated me for Persistent AFIB. 1 year later, I am still AFIB free. I do have some "extra beats" especially when my Anxiety is running high but NO AFIB. A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL on this forum who steered me in the right direction. ALSO my 4th grandchild was born Feb. 17. Her name is Amelia. She is a beautiful baby.by smackman - AFIBBERS FORUM
Excellent information Peter and Shannon, thanks very much. Very timely also, I'm ten days out from my third ablation with Dr. Natale (CPMC). This one was to finish isolating the LAA. Nice to be back in rhythm, getting stronger everyday. As much as I hate afib in all its variations I'm so glad Dr. Natale is here and it is a privilege to know him and I feel very secure in his hands.by Mike E - AFIBBERS FORUM
My Pvc,s per my Nurse educator are not that bad. I am in NSR and have been since my Ablation by Dr. Natale feb.27, 2014 almost a year ago. I just hate them when I can feel them. When I feel them, my Anxiety gets worse. I am already at bowel tolerance with the Magnesium at approx. 1100 mg a day which is 300 chelated magnesium and 800 Magnesium Citrate. I bought some powdered potassium BUT I amby smackman - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have been having "runs" of PVC,s for approx. 2 months. I went 9 months after my ablation with "very few". I called Austin and they said it is NOTHING to worry about and quite common for individuals who have had Cather Ablation which I did Feb 27, 2014 by Dr. Natale. They say I have very few that show up using my linq monitoring device and she said they get numerous calls froby smackman - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Sam - as George mentioned I traveled from Canada to Bordeaux. Although I had some anxiety while there I would say the overall experience, and especially the outcome was good. I first of all had a good doctor back home who was supportive of me going there. I also had some definitive holter monitor tests that I was able to package up and send to Bordeaux. I contacted Laurence Bayle and sby RonB - AFIBBERS FORUM
Personally knowing what I now know, I would go for the ablation especially if AFIB starts dominating your life. I am so glad I had my Ablation done Feb. 27, 2014. I was in persistent AFIB. I have not had a AFIB issue since the Ablation. My understanding is AFIB is a progressive issue meaning at least to me it only gets worse at time gord by. That was definitely my situation. Shannon is right. I meant to say IF a problem is found by Medtronics, The staff at Austin is notified and you will be called OR lets say you feel you are having issue, There is a separate device that you can mark your recording with called Medtronic REVEAL. Newbie - Don't be mislead to think that there are no side effects with herbs... there definitely can be if you are reactive to them or if you don't have good liver clearance, as examples. I also know that skipped beats, extra beats,PVCs can be caused from Stress/Anxiety. I have been magnesium for months. I had my Cather Ablation almost 11 months ago in Feb. 2014. I started having Anxiety really bad in early Dec. 2014 and the heart responded with PVC's, skipped beats etc. I have a Linq monitor embedded in my chest so Dr. Natale's staff sees my Heart response everyday.by smackman - AFIBBERS FORUM
My One-Year Journey With Afib It was EXACTLY one year ago today, January 14, 2013, that I went into a local hospital to have a minor procedure done. I was as calm and peaceful----no anxiety whatsoever---as a person could be. Winter time is always a hard time for me as far as Anxiety/stress etc. I just try hard to relax listening to christian music and not think about my heart or my issues. I echo the HIIT and super slow to failure strength training. If I had to choose one because of ectopic or afib, I'd choose the super slow to failure. It is unlikely to cause issues, but is still an excellent and fast workout. Georgeby GeorgeN - AFIBBERS FORUM
Good reply, Ron. I too am tall and slender and was a hardcore weekend warrior when it came to my racquetball and weight training. Thus, when I hit 50 years old, the planets aligned and viola, afib. Hi Paul - there are many things to consider, but I will mention only one that may be of interest to you. There is a lot of supporting anecdotal information that endurance type of exercise is not at all good for afib, and perhaps not good for your overall health. The stress it puts on our bodies seems to be cumulative. As well it causes an increase in free radicals. There is also theory thby RonB - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi David, I had an Ablation on 8th Jan this year at the Wellington Hospital, London by Dr Tony Chow for Paroxysmal Afib/Flutter. I have had episodes of LAF for four years occurring about every 3-5 months, requiring chemical conversion in the ER. Thank you everyone for the advice and concerns. I think mainly it's just anxiety and I'm going to try and follow the dr's advice and just put it behind me. I know why i wake up anxious and that is because my Afib started in the morning 6 weeks ago. Slim: Whether or not you're in afib, which it doesn't sound like you are, you definitely have anxiety, which is not surprising. My cardiologist said that a quick simple way to check for afib is to use a home blood pressure machine and if the pulse rate indicator won't read, you may be in afib, but if it does give you a regular reading you're probably not.
