Peggy, thank you for your response. I have been taking Mag Gkcinate for quite awhile. I take 1000 mg a day. I drink 3 large glasses of low sodium V8 each day but I still do not calculate my potassium intake. I have blueberries daily also. I did not realize it is 7500, I thought it was 4700mgs a day. I do ot know how to navigate the Fitday site correctly to calculate. Thank you for your suggby lynda - AFIBBERS FORUM
Everyone now seems to be depending on ablations to solve their problems. I have kept largely clear of afib for 8 years, after having it for 15 years previously. Amiodarone was the key to my success. I started on 200mg daily but because of its long half-life, I steadily reduced the dose month by month until one pill amiodarone lasted 4 weeks. All this with no loss of efficacy. Lynda, afib would terrify anybody. Are you still having afib episodes sometimes? If so, are you taking magnesium glycinate to bowel tolerance and potassium gluconate enough to , with the amount from your normal foods, bring your daily potassium intake to the amount our government recommends, 7500 mg or 7.5 grams each and every day? As long as i do these 2 things and avoid junk foods, i get maybeby Anonymous User - AFIBBERS FORUM
My ferritin was in the high 300's low 400's. I tested negative for hemochromatosis, but eventually I got a prescription for a series of phlebotomies. I think I pulled out 6 pints of blood in 7 weeks. My ferritin got down to about 50. What I noticed most was a sudden and unexpected improvement in my knees. Clearly I was experiencing less inflammation. I have had LAF since 1996 about 8 or 10 episodes. Never lasting more than 4 hrs. I have mostly gone to the ER. Several times they gave me meds to convert and several times I converted on my own. The first time it happened they gave me magnesium to convert. The last two times I converted just after arriving in the ER ( I take atenolol for the afib. 25 mg in AM and 50 mg in PM). Hi Jill, Sounds like you may be having a lot of anxiety, which is probably not helping your situation. Have you tried or are you able to get any lorazepam (Ativan)? This may calm you down a bit. Also you may want to try a bath with magnesium chloride salts. I wish you well and a quick return to NSR. Cheers, Ralphby RalphL - AFIBBERS FORUM

You guys are so great to answer back. Thanks Steve, Marg, Steve and Tom! Marg, I wonder if a slightly higher dose would work. I will ask EP about that. I just got back from successful cardioversion and in NSR, thank God! Like you, Tom, I have had way too many cardioversions. I began TIKOSYN in December and have been in NSR following electrocardioversion on day 3 of TIKOSYN. Occasional 'blips' along the road but they are few and far between and often a result of my messing up supplementation or ingesting triggers, in especially salt. Not sure what's going on. On Tuesday morning I woke up at 5 am and went to use the bathroom, when I returned to bed I started getting terrible pvcs every time I started to relax. I am fortunate to be in NSR since December but recall a few of my symptoms quite vividly.... fatigue and shortness of breath top my list as being the robbers of my quality of life. Hi Elizabeth, I'm so sorry for the anxiety this is causing you. I'm not nearly so informed as many here but wasn't it probably the drugs in the ER that caused the low blood pressure. I think that many of the drugs used to try to convert AF are also used to lower blood pressure. Many people with vagal AFib cannot tolerate them because the blood pressure goes too low.
