Takotsubo syndrome happened to me a couple years after my afib ablation. I was told at the time that it happened more to older women with anxiety although I never considered myself an anxious person. Granted, the chest pain accompanying Takotsubo syndrome can produce some anxiety. Since the advent of Covid and the suggestion that men have more severe cases, there is renewed interest in researchinby bstevens - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Mtwomey Just to pick up on your comment that you don't have to feel your pulse - you can feel it at any time - I too when sitting or standing quietly can "hear" my heartbeat - Pulsatile tinnitus. Being able to hear my heartbeat is both comforting when I'm in normal rhythm but very disconcerting when I'm in AF. When lying in bed at night with normal rhythm, heby KiwiBlake - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Edda, My personal experience seems to be that I can almost trigger Afib in myself by being so anxious and worried about it that perhaps my anxiety causes it? For me, valium helps. (Diazepam). For example I have a dental appointment tomorrow (just cleaning), but that makes me anxious. So I always take half a pill before going to the dentist and that gets me through it with no issues. Well,I maybe unique to this forum in getting the runs ONLY upon the onset of high tachycardia flutter, I’m not alone in the real world. Wondering how those that have had AFIB and it is being controlled by either medication or ablation(s) cope with the possible or eventual recurrence. It is said that “AFIB begets AFIB” I have undergone three ablations and a Watchman procedure, currently in NSR and have been asymptomatic throughout. Hi Edda, I am sorry you are having difficulties. I can hear this is very upsetting to you... I have had afib for 20 years, and would suggest you read the book, 'The Afib Cure', lots of good current information on triggers, etc. I would also suggest a beta blocker consult with your physician for anxiety and rate control, a very low dose. Hello everyone. I am a 66 old female, 110 pounds, always in fairly good health, except for anxiety. I had my first afib episode on Labor Day, September 2, 2019 at 8:30 am. After being woken up by the neighbor’s landscapers and their extremely loud leaf blowers at 7:30 on a holiday I became very upset and suddenly my heart beat at a high rate and in a very erratic way. I had no idea what hit me. Mby Edda - AFIBBERS FORUM

QuoteAfibber20 Interesting the mouth taping can make that much difference, though it seems counterintuitive. Did nasal strip help? I never tried nasal strips. While it won't work for all sleep apnea cases, mouth taping is a simple approach and nasal breathing can make a big difference. This surgeon, having along the years of work in the operating rooms put most of his emotions aside, is now considering the heart not only as a pump, but as one of the main sources of our emotions. Everyone is different, but if you have apnea, and your PO2 goes much below 88, you are not being treated well. You might need a bipap or ASV. Actually, i am very naive on afib. All I know is I was diagnosed by primary and referred to cardiologist. Cardiologist did testing, said I had no immediate issues or symptoms so we would go on Xarelto and just monitor it with annual stress test and echogram. 3 years later she referred me to EP. During that time the only time I knew I had afib is when I went to primary or endrcrinologist they woulby Geocappy - AFIBBERS FORUM

I've known a lot of people with afib who are/were taking antidepressant and antianxiety meds and I've never heard a single one say they thought those meds provoked afib.
