I found information for my supplements on . I am sure you all have been there. I also researched heavily on Resveratrol and I think it has helped also. I try to eat very healthy. Lots of fruits and vegetables, chicken and fish and very little red meat. I find if a eat a heavy meal my heart rate goes up for hours during digestion and may trigger AFIb. Rob - part of the running for the bus scenario is the adrenaline surge that would come from the anxiety aspect of missing the bus. Sudden surges of adrenaline are known to trigger afib; whereas, marathon running would not be the same intensity or even produce (similar) anxiety since you are exerting over a very long period of time. You very well could be mixed but with a distinct tendency tby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had cardiac ablation about 1-1/2 years ago. It seemed to solve my issues for about 8 months, but then it started again. Now my situation seems different than some here on this board. Please let me know if anyone experiences this. I go into an abnormal rythym, but not for long periods of time, maybe a minute here, 5 minutes there, sometimes up to an hour or 2, but never for longer than 6 hours.by Don - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie did you mean Epinephrine? I couldn't find anything for epinepherine. This is what it said about Epinephrine. It looks like you may have spelled it wrong. I, too, have never had Novocain with any of my dental work. My issues are claustrophobia...too much stuff in my mouth can set it off so glad I have a dentist who is patient with me. I still hate going. Although it has been easier since I have been supplementing with magnesium. My anxiety, in general, is much reduced. Cyndieby Cyndie - AFIBBERS FORUM
I take .25 of the klonopin in the morning. I get adrenaline rushes and had anxiety from the afib. It does help as does xanex. I keep some of those drugs on hand and when things get going(adrenaline...anxiety) i take a small one. My psychologist said at the dose i take it is unlikely to be addictive. The drug does work. Very interesting study.by steve Daley - AFIBBERS FORUM
George: As a labrat of one, I was on Klonopin, 0.5 mg X 2/day, for other reasons for more than a year when I had Afib. It certainly did not prevent fib or flutter and there's no way for me to tell if it lessened the frequency or length of occurence but I do know that it lessened the anxiety and additional adrenaline flow that I normally had with a fib episode. Pat i was on sotalol for several years 80 twice a day to start and was up to 120 twice a day. I never felt great to be honest. James, I had two small TIA's in March 2005, caused by blood clots thrown by LAf. I knew it happened when I suddenly realized that I couldn't talk. I couldn't get the words out. I have been taking a little sea salt Howie and it seems to be working along with the other supplements I'm taking to keep the afib at bay. I am surprised that I have not have any full blown episodes since last Saturday. I was in afib more before I stopped the drug than I am now. Mike, I want to add that I have never had such anxiety as following my return to the ER from the Propafenone reaction, and it continued for a few weeks. I went on an anti-anxiety medication, which I never thought I would do. I also had found my afib bearable, but decided to have an ablation with Dr. Natale after learning on this board how such frequent episodes is damaging to my heart. It toby Darla - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you all. It does help to know there are others that will take the time time be concerned about a perfect stranger. Cyndie, I do realize the anxiety and lack of sleep can have a huge impact on my heart. It's a vicious cycle that is self perpetuating - anxiety affects heart, heart problem makes me more anxious. Mike It is certainly understandable that you are experiencing such anxiety with your heart being so agitated. I experienced extreme anxiety at the beginning of my afib "career". I think it is natural. My heart rate and blood pressure were varying wildly early on and I was uber diligent watching it. In hindsight I think I was making it vary due to all my anxiety. I'm not usually a whiner, but I am almost at the end of my rope and am looking for some guidance. I started getting a fib attacks 15 years ago at age 35. Sandy - there is no question in my mind that deep emotional stress and turmoil is contributory to afib events. I've proved it on several occasions. Jackie A former post about Stress and the Heart... Curt - The theanine I use is Jarrow 100 from Hans' web vitamin link with iHerb. When I think I may be in a stressful situation, I take 100 mg. People that I've counselled on anxiety and afib tell me that they take 100 mg at the onset and they feel calm in about 20 minutes and often convert quickly. For prevention, you may want to consider 100 mg 3 - 4 times a day and especially at bedtime.by Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Curt, While I do agree with Jackie and Sharon that you should try to address the anxiety problem naturally, you need to be careful that the anxiety doesn't spiral out of control. I started with anxiety about blood pressure and afib. The anxiety was fueling the high blood pressure and I could not control the anxiety. Over time, the anxiety got stronger and I started to fear the anxiety, wby Jim - AFIBBERS FORUM
Julia, I'm fortunate that my episodes have almost always happened on the weekend. I have had to take off a day to recover, but haven't had any episodes at work. Sandy I was in your position a little over a year ago so I really empathize with you being overwhelmed with everything. I did go to the ER early on until it became clear that they really couldn't help me...none of the drugs they used worked to slow my heart rate significantly (don't use flecainide). I wouldn't worry to the point of bringing it back on a self-fulfilling prophesy. I had 3 ablations, and sort of wonder (but not worry or stress) every minute thereafter. It did come back every time, yet with much less frequency, and is manageable. I think that this condition is one that is not fixed on a black-and-white basis, and you're sort of managing it for the rest of your life. Soby Philippe H. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Barbara Your sleep apnea could be making you tired due to poor quality of sleep. Regarding ablation, I could not take the meds due to allergic reaction as well as other side effects including lack of energy. The ablation route is very much a personal decision.
