Keith - I do not get ectopy with stress. My ablation was 11/03. That may be because I continue to take magnesium, potassium, taurine and a whole host of other supplements targeted at general health. I know I stress easily so I also take supplements that support adrenal function (since I had adrenal burnout). And if I know I'm going to have a stressful day, or get into a stressful situatby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Paula. it seems to me that you could benefit from an anti-anxiety drug like Ativan. It has helped me tolerate a fib much better. Janeby Jane - AFIBBERS FORUM
jinky, first, it is normal to be anxious about having an afib episode. We have all been through the anxiety and stress related to our hearts beating so fast, the hospital experience (which is frightening in itself). The most important thing is for you to learn as much as possible about afib and to realize it is not potentially life threatening, unless you go past 48 hours and some recommend eveby Sharon Glass - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have decided to stop the high dose Niacin called for in the Hoffer protocol. Like many other things I have tried, the initial improvements have not continued. As my various H P supplements are running out I will discontinue them. Will still be doing magnesium, taurine and potassium, omega 3, E, C, D and B 50. I have a new EP. Hello Sam, what great news and what a thought provoking, encouraging post! Thank you so much for telling us of your experience and where you are now. Neither is diet/nutrition addressed." Yes, yes, yes!! Thank Goby Emmie - AFIBBERS FORUM
An eventful year but I'm in NSR and sustain it 99.9999% for the past 6 months. I got a chance to speak w/Atricure who makes the device that makes this procedure possible. Congrats Ed. I have been on Celexa for anxiety for ages, unfortunately, my afib didn't care when it came back a few weeks ago. The gurggling and fibbing just came on and got me anyhow. Fortunately it's run away again (beta blocker seems to be have chased them away). Nancyby Nancy - AFIBBERS FORUM
I've found myself yawning a good deal over the past few days, several times a minute. So was looking up yawning as a symptom and found this odd tidbit. Yawning can also be the first sign of what is called the vasovagal reaction. Potentially adversive stimuli, such as needle pricks or even generalized anxiety about some future event, can lead to increased activity in the vagus nerve. In soby Nancy - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks everyone! An yes I do take Dilacor XR (120mg 2xday - although it's been 3xday lately). Also Celexa for my anxiety, Prilosec for GERD. Am feeling a little better had a couple of hours of sleep. Been popping in/out of afib still. Ate an apple and popped back into NSR. Drank some water and back into Afib. Go figure lol. I will ask about the other thyroid tests and if a beta blocker isby Nancy - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Nancy, Sorry to hear about your miserable and frightening night. What a way to spend Easter. Sounds like you had an entertaining neighbor in the ICU. The IV drip you got must have been Diltiazem (Cardizem). I guess you havn't had time yet to change some of your supplements (Anxiety and Afib thread). Maybe you should consider stopping the Calcium and changing the Mag Ox to Mag Glycby Pam - AFIBBERS FORUM
Nancy - exactly what does the Twin Lab label read as to magnesium form and content (does it say anything about elemental magnesium) - is the form magnesium glycinate or another like oxide, aspartate? Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Dear Nancy, Here is an article with references that you can take to your doctor: A review of published findings about TSH levels reveals that readings greater than 2.0 may indicate health problems relating to insufficient thyroid hormone output. One study showed that individuals with TSH values greater than 2.0 have an increased risk of developing clinically significant thyroid deficiency duriby Tish - AFIBBERS FORUM

Nancy, do an author search on Jackie's name and find one of the places where she describes this problem, she explains it better than i can. Or just email her privately about it. Calcium and magnesium are antagonists, the same way salt and potasssium are. One of them counteracts the other. It has to do with excitation of the heart cells. PeggyMby PeggyM - AFIBBERS FORUM

Hans' vitamin contact at iHerb is where most of us get ours, i think. I do, for sure. The brand name is Doctors' Best. Nancy, I have been experiencing anxiety and dont know if it from the meds or from afib itself. I have been in nsr for 1 year 6 months but on sotolol 80 twice a day. Yes, it's magnesium oxide - other ingredients gelatin, potato starch, magnesium silicate, purified water, MCT, Croscamellose Sodium, Magnesium Asparate & Silica. What is glycinate - where & what is that available? Nancyby Nancy - AFIBBERS FORUM
Nancy, is that Twinlab magnesium the oxide form? Look at the ingredients and find out. I ask because nearly all Mg supplements are the cheapest kind available and that is the oxide. Only about 4% of the Mg in Mg oxide is absorbed by the body so it is not really very useful. Mg glycinate is much better absorbed and more of it can be taken without producing diarrhea, a real bad deal for an afiby PeggyM - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Tish. My TSH is 2.220, which is just above what you mentioned. I'll talk with my doc on that. Peggy, my normal dosage of Magnesium is 800 mg (two Twin lab 400 capsules/day). My Potassiuim is usually 1/2 a 550 mg Potassium/Gluconate Nature Made pill. I have doubled both of those over the past couple of weeks. Nancyby Nancy - AFIBBERS FORUM
Re: I had a thyroid test last week, came back normal. The new TSH ranges are about 0.4 to 3.0 and not one lab that I know of in the US has adopted these ranges even though they have been out for a number of years now. Secondly, a TSH above 2.0 is impaired thyroid function and means that you are running on not quite enough and are at increased risk of thyroid disease. Thanks all. I had a thyroid test last week, came back normal. Rest of the blood work looked pretty good too, except glucose was higher than last time, so that might be big part. Nancy - anything that is a simple carbohydrate (as opposed to Complex ) turns to sugar (glucose) almost immediately upon ingestion. This, then, requires insulin to manage it in the body. Flour and sugar are both examples of a simple carb. When simple carbs are eaten frequently, more and more insulin is required to help metabolize. In some cases, other factors enter into glucose handling - ofby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
