Brent, I am on 80mg of sotolol also right now. I too experience bouts of anxiety but have been in nsr for 1 year now. I have tried to find my triggers. I dont drink alcohol, or caffeine or any decongestants. I also dont drink carbonated sodas(no fizzy drinks) Especiallly cold drinks. They seem to bring a vagal response. I sure appreciate your help George. I was recently reading up on the correllation between MVP and a dysfunctional ANS. I have what doctors call very mild MVP with little to no regurgitation. In college I went through a year of massive panic attacks. I was having a little too good of a time when I had my first panic attack. That triggered a year of anxiety and Tachacardia with many ER visits. I cby Brent - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hello all, This board has proven to be priceless and I truly appreciate everyone's care and research. I have some questions and comments and any feedback would be greatly appreciated: 1.Could someone recommend a good Magnesium supplement? Is Magnesium Oxide ok? Should it be chelated? 2. Mary Ann - I truly understand your anxiety and fears. Nothing we've every endured for conditions or ailments compares to the feeling we get when afib begins. I was just as disconcerted or alarmed as anyone else and the darn thing really changed my life and not for the better. DGM, Thanks for bringing to my attention your previous response to me, the last message on another thread. Regarding that message: 1. "But what initiates the foci?" If by "initiate" you mean trigger rather than create, it seems like sometimes the ANS triggers them. Other times, I don't know. If you meant create, see below. 2. "Further, what are the foci?"by Bob K. - AFIBBERS FORUM
To Bob K: Sure, it's quite possible your right. Without the foci, no afib. But what initiates the foci? Further, what are the foci? IMHO, the foci are the cellular nerve outlets of the ANS. For example, I have a GP who is a family doctor. I remember he once told me how he hates to speak in public, but had too on occasion. He said he'd take a small amount of beta-blocker to preveby dgm - AFIBBERS FORUM

I too would love to learn more about Dr Callans' more specific insights and predictions in this regard. Anxiety surely plays a HUGE role in the genesis of arrythymia. Not surprising really given that the brain and heart are so comprehensively hard-wired together. Mike F.by Mike F - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have been afib-free for 6 months minus a day - and on that day, yesterday, I woke up extremely dizzy with palpitations and my pulse was thumpy but 60, then next hour it was 70 then 80 etc. until it was 110. I had posted this week how my pulse has been 48, so at 110 I really felt it and was sure it was afib. Another trip to emergency and, no, it was in sinus and back to 60. Emmie I am not sure if I had any afib before breast cancer but when I think back about nights where I had frequent urination and palpitations, I wonder if I did have some episodes. My afib was diagnosed after breast cancer treatments and I did have the heavy duty chemo. But, most doctors tell me the treatments and radiation did not cause afib. Some nurses have told me it can. You obviously do not appreciate that there is no such thing as typical a-fib. Talking to a few a-fibbers will give you a few very different, and usually inconsistent, a-fib histories. While you don't realize it, you are wishing for a form of solution to your anxiety which does not exist. Isabelle you don't mention that you have been examined by a cardiologist. Someone prescribed the medication you are taking, so there must be a problem there. Dear Darla, I can relate to your anxiety. When I was diagnosed at 42 and everyone kept saying I was too young to have A-fib, it drove me crazy. My cardiologist at that time put me on Xanax.
