There are numerous posts archived here about the impact of stress, anxiety and related issues such as insomnia while dealing with Afib. Recently, I was helping a non-afibber and suggested research on calming, natural remedies such as L-theanine and GABA… and offered the link to the post (here) for afibbers…. Hi Tom - It's good to see you posting this acknowledgement and to see your mention of John Sarno. He and others helped me in several personal saga/ health-issue journeys that I experienced long before Afib entered my life, but apparently were still there to help me cope as I didn't have nearly the anxiety for AF as I did during previous health-related issues. Thanks and I’m happy to share my info. I’m 61 and live in NY. I went into afib in 8/2020. I’m considered to be in persistent afib since After multiple cardio versions and an ablation in December I’m considered to be in persistent afib. I was on metoprolol until my second ablation this week. I’m now on amiodarone for the next 2 weeks but my heart rate is between 150-153. (It’s never been this highby Mabmedz - AFIBBERS FORUM
These two are related in the same episode for me. Since around 2008, I’ve purchased my flecainide from Europe and was initially prescribed Tambocor in the US before that. The flec is from Meda AB, a specialty pharmaceutical company and is branded Apocard or Tambocor, depending on the country they are sold in. The pills are individually wrapped on a blister pack card which keeps them from oxiby GeorgeN - AFIBBERS FORUM
Quotetallguy31 From reading the responses I see that everyone has had different results. I guess the heart is a fickle thing and I’ll just have to learn to live with it. Id hope the episodes weren’t so bad, it really takes me out. I get light headed, my chest feels like a frog is jumping around in it and I can’t sleep or concentrate. Quotevanlith well just shrug and say to yourself....i was expecting some action early so no big deal.... So, this has also been useful to hear. My HR has been around 75bpm since the ablation. Up from around 55, but this morning i think I had my first little run of ectopics which seem to have stopped after a couple of hours. Hi David and Everyone! Thank you so much David for introducing me to the forum. I have already received valuable information from generous members. I understand that except for George what we do can be beneficial for overall health, but not for taking us out of AFIB. That is my result so far too. So, I am in afib since 10.00am UK time following doing rigorous exercise. I now feel certain that an ablation will help. I really dont want to live with this impacting on my lifestyle anymore. Also, the anxiety when in afib and waiting for it to end is a unique and horrid experience. I just need to remember this when Im in sinus rhythm. During those times, I tend to forget how awful it is to be iby ElectroBlu - AFIBBERS FORUM
I've been there with all of that anxiety. My AF most of the time would come on in the middle of the night while I was sleeping, so it got to the point where I'd be afraid to go to sleep at night. Then I discovered that MSG could trigger me, so I became afraid to eat ANYTHING that might have it. So that meant I basically only ate what I cooked, since I knew what was in it. Juggsy, I had afib for 11 years before my first ablation with over 300 episodes and rarely visited my DR. The first five years, I was misdiagnosed and didn't know that I was having bouts of afib, so I took no medication, then diagnosed and on meds for the last 6 years. I was and still am very fit and the afib was an inconvenience. I didn't workout or go for a run when in afib, butby Ken - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteCarey I meant you'd have an ICD now if they had seen sustained runs of v-tach. You're right that NSVT doesn't usually require an ICD, but I'm skeptical you've experienced VT of any sort. Why do you think you have? As for why the change of mind, I would assume someone misinterpreted a result and got all excited before someone else reviewed it and calmed them down.by Juggsy75 - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteJackie I typically fell asleep with the help of PharmaGaba to help relax, but didn't always remain asleep throughout the night. I like PharmaGaba or L-theanine for 'taking the edge off' when a high stress situation is anticipated...but for me, those didn't help to produce uninterupted sleep. Amazing results with just the half dose. Now I sleep at least 6 hrs veby bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hello all, I’ve been a lurker reading this forum for a while now, my name is Scott, I was diagnosed in 2015 at age 40 with afib after a run, came back and something didn’t feel right, just felt a bit wired, sweatier than normal, however took myself off to work, whilst there I felt same and tried my friends Fitbit on, it couldn’t settle on a pulse, yet his was steady, decided to take myself off toby Juggsy75 - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteRobbiecriss I have not continued when I go into tach and then convert. So far I have waited until sinus returns and then just walked home anxious that it will happen again. It seems like a vicious cycle...run,tach, anxiety, rest, convert, more anxiety, etc... I think I have to work on my response to it honestly. Where to start, just like so many of the stories I’ve read of fellow afibbers, I had no prior health problems or conditions. Barely ever got or get sick, hardly even a cold. I ate healthily, had pushed my self to wake-up at 5:40 at least 2X a week for a cross-fit workout. Hey Betty, Not answering your questions, but another idea. Breathing. First, listen to this mp3, (click on "click to download here" download here ) and do what it says. Another breathing approach is "cadence" breathing. Specifically 5 1/2 to 6 breaths/minute. Through your nose. Doesn't have to be exact. Regarding Taurine: As we know and often acknowledge: what works for one, may not work for another, but there is support for Taurine in membrane stabilization. Long ago, I learned from a webinar that taurine is an important nutrient. I tried it with success and subsequently, wrote a report about it in 2004 which is in the reference links below. It’s certainly worth consideration.by Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM

People should solve their apnea however they can, it is very important to solve that. Some people with mild to moderate apnea can do that by taping their mouths shut. Beyond that, however, training themselves to breathe slowly and lightly can also be of benefit. Not just overbreathing at night, but during the day. Thanks George. I read Steve’s website and it appears he has 5000 IU of vitamin D a day, low calcium intake (mainly from eggs) and a lot of cranberries. After my 1st Ablation in Jan. 2014, I stayed on Multaq and Eliquis for 3 months or the blanking period. I never went back into AFIB until approximately 18 months later.
