What i found interesting about it is, it suggests that the panic attacks are a result of the "acid indigestion", rather than the other way around. Afibbers already know that the gerd inclines us toward ectopics and afib, and a lot of us suffer from anxiety and outright panic attacks too, afib being enough to panic anybody all by itself. All this stuff sounds to me like too much of aby PeggyM - AFIBBERS FORUM
A month ago I had my first and so far, only afib event. It lasted over 24 hours. I was put on Toprol XL and Amiodarone. I don't have any underlying heart problems that could be found. I seem to have an other wise healthy heart. Had lots of heart tests. Blood pressure & choleserol are good. I have a relatively slow heart rate it seems. Under 60 beats per min. Went back to my doctor aftby Dave cz - AFIBBERS FORUM
Pete, It sounds like your anxiety is getting the best of you. The first thing I learned from this forum is that afib is seldom fatal, even if uncomfortable. If your pac's are increasing you might consider changing your diet to see if it helps. Major triggers are chocolate, caffeine of any kind, artificial sweeteners, and alcohol (wine is a bad idea till you know if it's a trigger).by Barb - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have been afib free for two years as of today. I still feel anxiety when I get any kind of feeling in my chest. I don't think we will ever get past that. My doctor says I will get afib again. I think if the doctors would be more positive maybe we would be. Janby Jan - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have not had afib since october of 2005 but it seems that every little movement vibration or whatever in the chest area sends a light bout of anxiety thru me. I feel like i might be getting afib. I hope someone comes up with a cure soon. I hate the feeling and i dont want to become a xanex junkie. What does the group do or feel likeby steve Daley - AFIBBERS FORUM
Since my above comment, I can't stop thinking how potentially dangerous Flec can be. I'm a daily reader to the site and have read your comments where you have been prescribed many different drugs and combinations thereof to fight afib. IS THERE A RECOMMENDED DRUG THAT IS EFFECTIVE IN CONTROLLING AFIB AND NOT AS DANGEROUS AS FLEC? Sorry I typed in caps, but now my anxiety level is up aby Nick - AFIBBERS FORUM
Lindsay- I have posted here several times about anxiety and afib. It may be worth looking at some of them. Particularly what I wrote to one man who is a chiropractor- I don't remember his name. Anyway, I believe I had underlying anxiety before afib, but the afib really expressed it to put it mildly. I can relate to those who fall asleep with their hands on their pulse! I went to a thby Thomas - AFIBBERS FORUM
Dear Lindsay, I understand you because I also think that I will die when Ive had my first afib episode. Dont go yourself to take a lot of pills like Xanax or something similar. Go to a cardiologist. Do some heart investigations to see if your heart is normal. If your afib is on a healthy heart you need only some proper approach regarding afib and nothing else. You wont die because lone atrialby Catalin - Romania - AFIBBERS FORUM
Heather, good to hear a progress report. Post more about this when you get a chance, ok? PS, that was real good about getting no response if one had asked who is NOT anxious about afib. PeggyMby PeggyM - AFIBBERS FORUM
"I hope you all don't think I'm nuts?" Well, Lindsay, there are a whole lot of that kind of nuts posting here. What i think really would qualify you for the nuthouse would be not to try to correct your problem the way a lot of us here have done, Sharon Glass, Sue Bowden, myself, and others. Lindsay, when I had my first "recognized" afib episode in Sept. 2005, ( I believe I had them before just didn't do anything about them) I would go to sleep with my fingers on my pulse, when my hand would fall, I would be wide awake again and put my fingers back on my pulse. Then, someone on another board introduced me to the afib board and I began to spend hours learning and absorbby Sharon Glass - AFIBBERS FORUM
Peggy, I could have written that myself. You described everything I feel. If I make it until Mar 20th I will have been afib free for 2 years. But I work hard to stay out of it. I have adjusted my entire life around it. If I get palpitations I feel a great deal of anxiety. My theory is if the heart remodels itself to fit afib it will remodel itself back if we can stay out of it. I get better all tby Jan - AFIBBERS FORUM
I think everyone gets anxious over AFIB. Over time you will learn how not to let it overcome you. Deep breaths in through the nose and exhaling through the mouth usually gets me back on track.by Bill D - AFIBBERS FORUM
Lindsay, i first got afib about 6 years ago, and even though this forum taught me how to get rid of it, and even though i have not had an afib episode since dec. 2003, any little oddity in my pulse still panics me for a minute, before i can remind myself that even if it is afib again, i am not going to die from it. I am supersensitized to any little bump in my heartbeat. Things that i am sure iby PeggyM - AFIBBERS FORUM

hi peggy, i haven't had any afib episodes since the ablation. i'm still experiencing a lot of ectopics, though it's been a little better since yesterday (on saturday i cruised on an average of two beats-one extrasystole-two-beats-one extrasystole..... all afternoon!). i hope the ectopics will just peter out. tomorrow i'll get hooked up for a 24-hour holter, though i donby Maurizio - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for all the input. I don't think this is from the Tikisyn because it di start before I started taking it. Trent, David,Dean, Jackie: You have contributed much to my understanding of afib. Forgetting some of my known food triggers, and my bad posture due to scoliosis, afib is almost always driven for me by a lack of emotional stability. Maurizio, I had the second of my two ablations in May, 2004 and have had no afib since the August, 2004. However, any time I have weaned off meds I, too, experience serious PACs and bigeminy. So long as I take 25 mg of atenolol and 75 mg per day of flec (25 mg, every eight hours), I keep the PACs at bay. In fact, I can go weeks at a stretch without any apparent PACs. Dear All: It's been a little over four weeks since my 7 February ablation in Bordeaux by Dr. Haissaguerre. The ablation went well. It lasted some two and one-half hours. Dr. H isolated the pulmonary veins and also eliminated atrial flutter. I haven't had any afib episodes since the ablation (before the ablation I was cruising on an average of 2 long (24 hrs +) episodes a week). Unby Maurizio - AFIBBERS FORUM
Doug S. Make sure that you have some low fat protein, or some no salt nuts and some Black Cherry Juice with you, to reduce the chance of being hypoglycemic and low in Potassium. John: Presuming that the area where you work and your home area are similar in demographics and medical talent available, it shouldn't be difficult to transfer your case from one good cardiologist to another. Hello all, I've just been diagnosed with afib (although I am not sure how long I have had it) and haven't even seen the cardiologist yet (appointment next week). I don't think mental drugs solve problems; they merely mask the symptoms enough so that one's mind can tune in to solutions. Indeed many drugs are anti somthing rather than problem solving themselves. For example, hypertension pills don't solve the hypertension; they merely artifically lower the blood pressure. Remove them and it goes right back up. The same can be said for menby Gordon - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hello DeLynn, I also experienced sever anxiety problems because of afib. First because I didnt know what afib is. During firs crises I thought I would die. Secondary , in my case, a panic attack generally means an onset for an afib episode. After an afib episode was started, more worries will come. More worries mean more panic and the afib become worse. Hi Delynn- Several points: Unlike Gordon who says: I have used benzos for panic off and on (fortunately way more off than on) for over 50 years, have been part of several newsgroups about panic and have yet to hear of someone who needed continual increases in medication as, for example, morphine users do.
